“Friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We stayed for one night in this motel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We asked room on the 2-nd floor and they gave us room #38.It was clean, large with comfortable beds, flat screen TV, fridge and recently renovated bathroom. The location of the motel is good. The price is OK.
The only downside is that the motel is a bit old and outdated.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 2-nd floor.

Forced to pay for larger room than needed. Smelled of smoke. Though sheets etc. clean the soap (chemicals) way too strong.
Safety latch none existent and windows unsafe to leave open for air.
Fan in bathroom rattled so loadly and even shook the toilet.

The Voyageur is exactly what I expect from a motel - clean, comfortable, and cheap. The fridge and microwave are nice perks, but if you're looking for anything fancy you're going to be disappointed. As a bonus, the manager I've dealt with on both occasions has been very friendly, and while I haven't had any problems, I have no doubt he'd help solve them if I did.

My father-in-law booked us here for one night. I waited in the car as my husband paid and got the room key. I was immediately disgusted upon walking into the room. The carpet was dirty, the bed was lopsided with the blankets being old and faded. The only good thing about this place was they refunded my money when I told them I couldn't stay here. My in-laws on the other hand thought their room was fine, and were happy that the motel was pet friendly.

In a very run-down, industrial part of town, but much better inside than out; large room with fridge and microwave, free wifi. Across the street from a Chinese/Canadian restaurant, Chopsticks, that has good food and is much nicer inside than outside. A few blocks away is a wonderful, large, leafy park with running/biking trails and swimming area: Boulevard Lake Park. Very nice, responsive managers.

This was our 3rd stay here allbeit the last time was 22 years ago and it's still okay to stay for a night or 2. It's on Cumberland St. and that is the old part of town and there are several stand alone motels along the road. It's not the best part of town but the hotel was quiet and the room #38 was quite large with a good-sized bathroom.

Cons - no coffee-maker, no hair dryer, no shampoo, very stiff and old towels, some broken tiles on bathroom floor and no security chain on the door. The slider part was still nailed on the door but the chain and knob part was missing and the door frame showed signs of a force entry at some point??? Not sure and did not ask.

Outside stairs only to the upper floor - very steep. Plug ins available in the parking lot for the winter months.

Room Tip: Book ahead and ask for bottom floor - nicer rooms and the staircases to the upper are scary and woul...

This is the second time that we've stayed at the Voyageur. It's passably clean and comfortable and the owners are friendly, but it's not great. The big attraction is the price. At $70/night it was less then half the price of a room at the Days Inn.
