“Very hard to actually sleep here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2010

I travel extensively across North America for business, spending roughly 150 nights per year in hotels and this is one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times before but only ever on weekdays. Generally, it has been an ok hotel to stay at but nothing special. The rooms look like they have been renovated recently and are clean but the building itself is very old and dated, however, the staff are very friendly. The main issue I have is a major issue - There is a nightclub attached to the hotel and loud bass music begins about 8pm and continues throughout the night. Then the patrons of the club hang out in the parking lot with music blarring. Sleep is not possible in this hotel when the nightclub is open.

Having a nightclub attached to the hotel was a very poor business decision by the owners as the hotel does have a lot of other points going for it. Unfortunetly, any good points I could mention are completely overshadowed by the noise.

The owners have to decide whether they want a nightclub here or a hotel, because one is not complimentary for the other.

Do not stay here.

I'm speechless...

This was our second jaunt up into the great white. Although this time around there was nearly half the snow we anticipated.

Anywho... this place I believe is family owned and operated. It truly has that warm, cozy feeling though out the entire place. Our rooms, we had two, we both immaculate. The staff here are also very accommodating . They have a neat little restaurant Great food, great atmosphere. Both times I had the ribs. Just wanted to thank the staff - See you all in Spring 2010.

Hank.

Traveling across the country with small children can be difficult to start, but the Ambassador hotel was able to assist us with our every need. The Front Desk staff where able to provide us with a playpen and fridge for formula for our infant and our young son was delighted with the pool. The Hotel staff went out of thier way to get a late night snack for us when our son needed a warm glass of milk before bed. Thank you for all your help and making this the most relaxing and restful night of our cross country trip!

This was my second stay at this family run hotel. The staff are most courteous and friendly. The rooms are very comfy and clean. The nightclub "TEN" provided an added social venue after dining in the restaurant that had fabulous food with great service. A morning work out in the fitness center and a leisurely swim completed our stay. Glad to stay at this hotel anytime that I am in Sudbury.

Despite the old carpets and poor codition of the plumbing (ie shower etc) it was a comfortable room to dream (of camping) but lacked the amenities I had requested and expected .. ie a microwave. There was a comfortable table but only one chair (an office chair) and we ate our meal at room temperature as no microwave available. The bed was comfortable but far too many blankets for an Auigust evening. The bathroom was so small that it was possible to sit on the "throne " and reach for the coffee pot (on a plant stand next to the pedistal sink) fill it with water and make the one cup of coffee supplied (no decaf or tea). .... standing up only to reach the plug in!.
I usually stay at the South end of the city and would return there instead.

The hotel presents itself nicely however this hotel really needs a lot of upgrades. The woodwork is phenonmenal and you can tell that in its time it had a lot of character, however the carpet was very worn and the showers in all 3 of our rooms did not work properly-if you want to have an arobic workout while showering this is the place for you. The breakfast was disappointing as it was not stocked properly and there is no where to sit down. The restaurant meal (only open 4:30-10) was expensive but very good with great service.

Great hotel conveniently located in the shopping district of Sudbury. I travel to Sudbury often for business and always stay at the Ambassador. Great service, ability to keep my daily workout with their pool and exercise room, conveniently located and PHENOMENAL food from their in-hotel restaurant Laura Fratelli's. The restaurant isn't open for breakfast but a lovely continental breakfast is available.

If travelling with kids or elderly, I would still book here due to easy drive up rooms and the great amenities. There is no elevator in the hotel so just ensure if travelling with someone that cannot walk up stairs, that you request a ground floor room.

I'm not usually a fan of non-chain hotels due to variability in what I'm going to get - but the Ambassador far exceeds most of the hotel chains in Sudbury.
