“3 nights in Sudbury”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Don't get me wrong, this is a decent place and I would stay here again if I couldn't get into The Fairfield Inn on Barrydown Road. When I arrived in my room, I needed to use the washroom. Let's just say, the toilet was not clean. Housecleaning came within 10 min to clean it and gave me a $15 Starbucks gift certificate. The next day, cleaning staff did not vacuum my room or empty my recyclables. I called for service and the front desk employee came to attend to the vacuuming promptly. I agree with Derrick H in another review: the coffee maker should not be in the bathroom! I would never use it! The breakfasts were edible and there is quite a variety of things to eat. A microwave might be nice to warm up food even more. I especially enjoyed the beans, sausage and Spanish omelets. Staff should not be vacuuming the dining area though when people are eating. Surprisingly, the oatmeal was great and the availability of hot beverages in the lobby after dining hours is a nice touch. A mini fridge in the room would be helpful like at Fairfield's. I LOVE the beds and the bedding and the AC/Heat unit worked just fine and I did not find it as loud as at other hotels. There are a few restaurants nearby and Buzzy Brown's is within walking distance. It was about a 12 min drive from the hotel to Barrydown Road/Kingsway intersection and an even shorter one to downtown.

Room Tip: A room at the rear of the building might be quieter as the hotel faces busy Regent Street.

Last minute trip to this hotel several weeks ago.have been a regular for several years while in Sudbury. Arrived on a Sunday and given a room that needed some attention. Room was rather dusty and faced the apartment building at the back of the hotel. The hotel was certainly not booked up, so was wondering why we received this location since there were better location of rooms available. The lone female clerk was reasonably attentive at book in but certainly not to the standard that we have been acustomed to.
I suspect this will be a one off vist at the Hampton for u/k reasons. When we left the following day a new staff member at the desk in uniform made sure we had breakfast to go, as was very attentive. Will see what our stay is like next month when we visit.

the coffee maker machine should not be located in the bathroom particarly next to the toilet. discusting choice of locations since anyone could touch the coffee marker while getting off the toilet and kids might touch the machine just for fun. The hot breakfast was not "hot" or edible.

Derrick,

I appreciate your recent review of our hotel. I understand that you were disappointed with the location of the in-room coffee maker and your breakfast experience. It is only through feedback such as yours that we can continue to improve. We will review our layout and offerings, keeping your comments in mind. The next time you are in town please visit us again and let us know how we are doing.

A nice clean and contemporary hotel for travellers both business and family. Close proximity to the Trans Canada Highway bypass. Also in close proximity to the Four Corners and Restaurants. The establishment serves a hot breakfast buffet which is included in your hotel rate. They even have a provision of breakfast 'grab-bags' for the hotel guest who doesn't have time to have a sit-down breakfast. The only downside is they do not have a restaurant on premises and so no room service. Other than that, gets my vote as one of the better/newer hotels in Sudbury.

We visited the Hampton Inn for a family March Break getaway. Very conveniently located at the south end of Sudbury on a major highway with a variety of restaurants and big box stores nearby so we didn't have to go far for anything. Science North is about 10 minutes away, Dynamic Earth about 15 minutes. The hotel was very clean and modern, breakfast was fantastic - a wide variety of breakfast foods to satisfy all tastes. Swimming pool was small and shallow, great for nervous nelly parents with young kids and it was open late (when do kids go to sleep on a vacation?). Price point was slightly higher than nearby hotels but the quality made up for it. We will be going back again...

The rooms are large and well appointed. The staff are very friendly and professional. The bed linens are lovely. The breakfast buffet room is very bright and cheerful and the quality of the food is very good. All in all, a great place to relax at the end of a busy day.

I go to Sudbury a few times a year on business and usually stay at the Hampton Inn. Very good hotel, decent breakfast incluided, WiFi etc. My only not-so-good-point is that the window heater unit is very loud... Also wish the fitness centre would have more equipment, maybe freeweights but it is a decent little gym over there with good equipment.
