“Want a nice quiet place to stay in Stratford?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Then book into The Swan in Stratford. It is just a 5 minute drive from downtown, but it is located in a quiet rural setting. The owners are always there to welcome you and help on any way possible. They are great at giving directions! The motel is fairly small and simple, but has all of the necessary amenities. However, I will give you a warning, book early as people keep coming back year after year.

We stayed here last night. Very clean motel. Not too far from downtown, about a 5 minute drive. Very comfortable beds and very quiet. I would like to stay here in the summer and enjoy the pool and beautiful grounds.

A lovely place, comfortable room, spotlessly clean, beautiful gardens. We picked up some wine, used our ice bucket as a wine cooler and sat out at a table and chairs in the gardens. It was relaxing. We tried the pool but it was ice cold. Only some guests from northern England braved the waters. The TV remote control is not particularly user friendly, but we managed. It was quite warm out so we had the air conditioning on. I think they rent it out as a wind machine for the movies. It was POWERFUL and noisy. The second night we shut it off and opened the window as there was a breeze. A bit of traffic noise but not bad. We had a queen bed, refrigerator, coffee maker, but no microwave. If you like coffee, bring your own for the machine, the coffee available in the morning is as weak as weak can be. Good muffins though! I agree with all the positive things other reviewers have written. I would return (with ground coffee and cream!) We went to a play (42nd St.) and it was excellent. I would also recommend St. Mary's Golf & Country Club - pretty grounds and challenging course.

Room Tip: Book early for a room further away from the road.

We "found" the Swan Motel through previous visitors' reviews, and want to add our own very positive comments! We spent 3 days and 2 nights there, and will certainly return on our next trip to Stratford. Coleen and Peter were gracious, friendly, and helpful - and took obvious pride in their well-kept premises. The overall effect on arrival was that of an oasis. It was a quiet, peaceful environment, with attractive, well-kept grounds, a sparkling-clean pool, and generous shade in which to sit. Our room was extremely clean, and well-maintained; simply, but functionally, outfitted – with excellent, firm mattresses, ample wall-unit air conditioning, and good cross-ventilation for the cooler evenings we experienced. Overall rating: excellent! Rick & Kathy (Toronto).

Room Tip: Take Coleen's advice (and hope they have a vacancy)!

We spent two nights at this motel in September and found the accommodation to be excellent. Motels often get a bad rap but this one was quiet, spotlessly clean (wish I could get my tub at home to shine like the one in our room!) and the grounds are beautiful. It was only five minutes from downtown Stratford which made it very convenient. Compared to prices of other accommodation in the area this was a steal. We will certainly return to the Swan on our next visit to Stratford.

Four couples recently stayed in Stratford to attend the Festivals 42nd Street which was good but not excellent. The Swan Motel has very clean rooms, spacious and good parking. The grounds are well kept. The only downfall is with their continental breakfast composing of muffins and coffee/tea. A very small areas is available right beside the check out counter which was extremely busy the day we checked out.

I would strongly recommend the As you like it Motel as their accommodations is about the same but your can't beat their area for having your continental breakfast is so much better. This motel ranks a 4 1/2 out of 5

Stayed here for 1 night. The beds are very comfortable, our room was spotless and the extra sink and mirror was a bonus for us. It was great to have a small fridge in the room. The grounds are very relaxing and peaceful and the pool area was very clean. They serve coffee and muffins in the morning at the office. Would definitely stay here if I visited Stratford again.
