“Fantastic Food, Service, and Atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Six of us went after work for a drink but once there, it soon turned into dinner. Everyone ordered a different entree and each one was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful. If you haven't been since the remodel, I'd highly recommend you check it out; the decor is nothing short of brilliant.

“Quattro is numero uno!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

Our participation in a province wide theatre festival brought us to Quottro. One, because of the coupons for free appetizers included in our theatre package, and two, because of the rave reviews we had heard from other Theatre Ontario participants! We were not disappointed. Every tasty choice at our table received A+ ratings from the four participants in our party, from the appetizers to the main course to the details of mini biscotti accompanying the espressos. Warm friendly efficiency in the service was well matched with the tasty details in the presentation of each course. Definitely our top choice during our festival week!

“Very Good, with a few minor issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

Quattro is a fairly new restaurant, located in the recently-rebuilt Comfort Suites hotel. It is not, however, a typical hotel restaurant. The space is very clean and sparely decorated, quite dark, but well lit at the tables. Tables are well spread so there is plenty of room between them.

We were warmly welcomed and ushered to a small semi-circular booth table already set with menus and water glasses (as we had a reservation). A small selection of wines had what we wanted, so we were fine there. Service was fine at first, but became slower and more sporadic as the restaurant slowly filled up (and even then it was not yet completely full).

Salads included in the meal had very delicious home-made dressings, and my partner got the balsamic on the side as requested. My caesar salad was not heavily over-dressed (a common problem). However, it was loaded with a very large amount of bacon and with huge home-made fried croutons loaded with oil -- almost as much croutons and bacon as there was salad. The net result tasted almost as if I were eating a fast-food breakfast sandwich with lettuce and dressing added.

The main courses were huge, and this might be counted a benefit by some, but when you're travelling and don't have cooking facilities in your hotel room to reheat the food the next day, it's a total waste. My whitefish dinner had TWO huge fillets of panko-crusted whitefish, as well as a generous amount of deliciously seasoned mashed potatoes. The pasta my partner ordered was also delicious, but both of us had to leave our meals unfinished. A pity.

And finally: the coffee tasted good, but came in a wide shallow cup which ensured that it was already barely warm when it reached the table, and had to be swallowed quickly before it became actually cold.

Apart from some of these glitches, this could be a five-star restaurant, but at the moment it isn't quite there yet.

“Affordable fine dining and wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

We went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary with another couple. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The service was attentive but not over the top. The menu was fairly standard for a nice restaurant with steak, seafood and pasta dishes. Where this restaurant was exceptional was in the execution of the dishes with my strip loin perfectly medium rare and some of the hottest and best fries I have ever had. They were still hot after I had been eating them for 10 minutes! Another plus was a decent wine list that, while not extensive, was well chosen to match the dishes and at very reasonable prices of 2X to 2.5X retail. For the Sault this is the exception. The dessert menu is limited but the chocolate volcano cake was decadent and delicious. We will definitely be back.

“Not your typical hotel eatery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

I normally have a policy of not eating at hotels. I made an exception here and was very pleased that I did. Food and service were top drawer, not cheap but not expensive either. A good value and much better than your typical chain restaurant. Food is four or five star, pricing is 3 star doesn`t seem there is a downside. Last visit I had the beef filet with peppercorn sauce which was perfectly prepared.
