“dark dreary atmosphere and tasteless food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Wish the patio had been open as the inside was very dark and dreary. Food was subpar. 2 of us ordered the Guinness Steak and Mushroom Crock...it was awful with stringy tough chunks of stewing beef and not much else. The same could be said for the Steak and Mushroom Boxty. The only acceptable menu item we ordered were the calamari rings...

“Beautiful by the water, great friendly service, average food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

I would have given this place an "average" rating, but the service was excellent, and it does have a nice view in the summer. The food is nothing spectacular. We had the chowder, which was average, then the poutine and the fish and chips. The poutine was not very hot and was lacking gravy, so the cheese curds were not melted, and the breading on the fish was a little overwhelming. However, if you are not in it for the food, and you just want to go to have a few beers on a hot summer day, the patio offers a nice view, and the service is excellent. If you want a real poutine, head down the road under the bridge for the best fries in Ontario.

“just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

we went to this restaurant on the recommendation of the hotel. the ptio was nice, service touch and go. the apertizer recommended by the waitress, the stilton dip, was ok, not very tasteful, in fact very bland. the goat cheese salead was nice and tasty. the chicken pie was bland and tasteless. we sat on the patio which was very nice, but we expected to be close to the water, and you are not, so this was a disappointment. we would not return. by the way, they had a live band, which we were looking forward to. but who would have thought that an irish pub would have a hard rock band. go figure.
