This used to be a favourite of mine. I used to recommend it confidently to anyone and everyone. Alas, things are now not the same. We used to be welcomed warmly, with French music playiing softly in the background, and when we stepped inside we felt we were "honoured guests". For the last couple of years, this has been diminishing somewhat. On my last visit, I was extremely let down as it was not an experience to remember. I had made a reservation a few days ahead, but when we entered, although there were only two other people in the restaurant (6 pm on a Friday night), I got the feeling that we were an inconvenience. After a bit of searching, our server led us to a table. The attitude was not outright rude, but patronizing and frosty. The reason I have given it an average is because the chef still cooks the lamb to perfection. It is pricey,For example, my entree was $34 - meat, potatoes, vegetables, bread. I used to feel this was justified due to the total experience of atmosphere, service, ambience. With that lacking, it comes down to price. $9 for a glass of house wine - my oh my. I have dined in Paris, Rome, the Amalfi coast, and many other places throughout the world. With that price,I expect something a little extra. The following night I took my guest to another locally-owned restaurant, spent less, had better service, and much more fun due to our congenial server. Will I return? Perhaps I will try it - once more - in a while. for now, my feeling is -. "what a disappointment." But, again, I don't blame the chef.
