“The only place to stay in Sarnia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2006

We were not sure about staying at a Holiday Inn so we checked out the reviews on trip advisor.

We had a room in the new tower and it was superb. The hotel was almost full but there was no noise from other guests that we noticed. The room was lovely and clean and extremely comfortable. There were loads of towels in the bathroom and everything was fresh, clean and modern. We were dissapointed when we looked at the hotel menu as there was not a huge amount to choose from but we decided to eat there anyway and what a find....... the food was out of this world. We overheard another guest say 'I only wish I had room to start over again' and that was exactly how we felt. This is not typical 'Holiday Inn' food, you must give it a try if you stay there.

  • Liked — it was clean, modern and very comfortable
  • Disliked — locatiobn as they were doing alterations to the main road
  • Tips/Secrets — stay in the tower rather than any of the other rooms and if you can afford it go for the 5th floor

We stayed one night in July 2006. We booked two rooms online and requested adjoining rooms. We were stuck in traffic and arrived several hours later than we had hoped. I called from the road to assure late check in and found out that through our web booking we had one smoking and one non-smoking room and subsequently the rooms were not adjoining. The front desk was very kind and tried to remedy the situation while I was on the phone but didn't have any suites available that we could all fit in. She offered to upgrade our room to poolside to allow us to have adjoining rooms - being that it was two adults and four children this was very helpful! Check in was quick and easy, rooms were clean and well appointed. We have stayed away from Holiday Inns for several years but may need to keep them in mind for future travels. The kids ate free the next morning at the onsite restaurant and everything was quite good. All in all I wish we could have stayed longer. Also as for location, you can't get closer to the border as the Blue Water bridge is right outside. Excellent stay and we will stay again.

What a surprise to come in and be staying in the new tower king room. The room was fantastic had great pillow top mattress and the furnishing were all nice and new. The colour scheme was very modern and made me feel like I was staying at a five star hotel. the room had a nice size coach that allowed us to sit and watch TV in a great comfortable setting and the view of the Bridge is a must see. The washrooms had nice granite counter tops and lots of space and included a bowed shower rod that allow for a very comforatable shower experiance. The hotel has free wireless which is great.....who says you do not get anything for free anymore. The staff is very pleasant and the dining room is top of the line higher end but well worth the price. I would visit this hotel if they moved it to Toronto it would still be my first choice.

Had the pleasure of staying in both of the luxury suites at the Holiday Inn Sarnia and they were both outstanding....king bed was heavenly and the decor and upkeep of both living and bedroom was as if they were almost brand new....quiet spot at back of hotel overlooking the golf course with an elegant double door entry...well worth the money

Stayed at Holiday Inn, Sarnia recently with 4 children. We had 2 connecting rooms. The rate was $109.00 per room (Can. $). Very decent Holiday Inn, but my complaint is a very noisy heater in both rooms. The fan ran so loud that it made falling into a deep sleep difficult. They did allow us to bring our small dog, but charged us an additional $25.00 as a "cleaning fee". My dog didn't make any mess whatsoever, so I was a bit miffed about the fee. The rooms were clean, but slightly dated. There were sliding glass doors which opened to a courtyard that would be lovely in nicer weather. They had a nice restaurant that we had a delicious, although slightly pricey breakfast in. The 2 younger kids ate for free, but the bill was still $45.00 plus tip. Overall, this is a very convenient place to stay due to its proximity to the Blue Water Bridge. If we traveled here again, we would probably go back to the Holiday Inn.

We stayed here for a few days on holiday. It is in a nice setting by a golf course near downtown sarnia. The price was about $120 for two beds. The staff were friendly and gave our children a gift bag apon arrival. The room was clean but the hotel is really in need of some renovations. The pool area especially needs some work, although the pool is large, it is not kept warm enough to comfortably swim in the winter. The hallways were not clean at all. The restaurant is so expensive, true, kids eat free, but the kids meals are so cheapy ( like kraft dinner) and drinks and dessert are not included, at $10 for eggs and bacon, you pay coffee extra. I've stayed at cheaper hotels that were nicer than this, but unfortunately in Sarnia there is not much selection. I'm undecided if I would stay here again or not, but i definitaley wouldn't eat here.
