“Be sure to visit this tiny gem of a museum.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Learn about the "birthplace" of Canadian Independence from Britain, and also the history of printing. This is a great little museum, and should not be passed up, as you will learn a wealth of information from the very knowledgeable staff.

“Surprising find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Wife and I stopped on 9/21/2013 this was the best of all stops very historic. Imagine the effort and manpower that went into making early newspapers. Very enjoyable and we knew nothing of printing and newspapers. Highly recommend and people should whenever visiting the niagara region fit in a trip to this place.

“History of printing in Upper Canada, plus hands-on fun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

A young docent named Mark gave us the best summary of the history of printing and of mass media in colonial Upper Canada. We also got a fun dose of printing lore and to set our names in movable type and print an Indenture contract and some nice bookmarks. It was interesting, entertaining, and inexpensive, and we came away with hand made souvenirs. What more could you want for a few bucks? Visit if you're anywhere on the Niagara Peninsula.

“Don't Miss This!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We almost didn't go to this, and we would have missed out on a gem of a place. My wife worked in the printing business for 22 yrs, and so we had decided to pass on visiting here. While at the Laura Secord Homestead, it started to rain. We were originally headed to Fort George, but the ladies at Secord told us to go to MacKenzie for a while and wait for the rain to stop. When we arrived, we were greeted by a young lady (she looked to be in high school) and we soon learned that looks can be deceiving. This young lady named Katelyn (sp?) turned out to be our favorite person from our entire vacation. This included Niagara Falls and Toronto! Katelyn is so full of energy, and so full of information and so into her job that is almost contagious. Not only does she explain in detail the workings of the machinery, but she also fills you in on tidbits and expressions that derived from the business. And to top it all off, the girl can talk NFL football. I would highly recommend a visit to the print museum, and with no offense to the other guides, hopefully you will get Katelyn as your guide. oh yeah, and the hands on work and the souvenir printouts were very cool.

“Great visit at Mackenzie Printery & Newspaper Museum. Unexpected!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Just wanted top let you know that anyone visiting Niagara region should take the 30 minutes to visit the printery. A great slide of history and you get your very own souvenir, printed on a 250 year old press.

Did not expect it. Cheap and fun!
