“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

My wife and I stayed in the Loft suite and found it comfortable, clean, quiet and very well presented. We found the location excellent and very close to local wineries and dining. We would definiately return. Sandra was an excellent hostess and breakfasts were amazing.

Sandra and Keith are nice people and great hosts. Sandra is such a thoughtful and creative cook - she made delicious vegan breakfasts especially for us each morning! We loved the location: quiet and convenient, 15 minutes to Niagara Falls, 10 minutes to Niagara-on-the-Lake, and 5 minutes to a couple of wineries and restaurants. After days spent hiking, biking, or wine tasting, it always felt comfortable to come "home" to The Red Coat.

Room Tip: All rooms are comfortable. Even though we stayed in the smallest one, The Secord Room, we felt it ha...

We stayed with Sandra and Keith over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful time. Upon arrival Keith greeted us and made recommendations for dinner (Ravine, which was fantastic). We stayed in the Loft Suite and it was huge! It had a deep soaker tub and sitting area with an outdoor balcony. The breakfasts each morning were wonderful and always included a freshly baked treat!

The location is a good spot - directly in between Niagara Falls and Niagara on the lake and a perfect spot for cycling.

Sandra and Keith - thank you for your warm hospitality - we will be back!

Room Tip: The loft only has a soaker tub and shower wand. If you prefer a shower, recommend either the Brock...

We stayed with Keith and Sandra from September 7th - 9th. My husband and I were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and were delighted with our stay at the Red Coat B & B. On arrival Keith greeted us and was able to help us with a restaurant selection for dinner that night. Our room was the Brock suite which was furnished very comfortably. The queen size bed was made up with crisp and fresh linens which were thoughtfully turned back for us when we returned from supper. Both mornings we enjoyed very hot showers with the provided toiletry items and loved the big soft and fresh white towels supplied. Breakfast was served promptly at 9am and included good hot coffee, orange juice, fresh seasonal fruit, home-made preserves and a fresh baked treat to accompany the main breakfast. Everything was delicious and plentiful.
Both Keith and Sandra were friendly and eager to assist us with our plans. We had reservations for dinner at Peller Estates Saturday evening so Sandra said she would call around to help find us a cab company willing to drive us there. When we returned from an amazing day of wine-touring she informed us that she would just drive us there herself! Unbelievable! As well, Keith was able to suggest a different, more scenic route for us to travel on our way home Sunday afternoon that took us past several small wineries in Jordan, Beamsville and Grimsby. Fantastic! The Red Coat is definitely a hidden gem!

We went at the end of summer at the height of the tourist season at Niagara-on-the-Lake. Luckily we were able to find this slightly out of the way bed and breakfast that provided seclusion from the crowds. The Red Coat is absolutely one of the most charming places that we have had the pleaseure of staying at. We had the loft room and it was spacious, well appointed and impeccably clean. The breakfast provided in the morning was also to die for. Baked apple french toast, fresh fruit, scones and coffee all helped to make this quick weekend getaway an experience to remember.

This year our group chose the Niagara region for our annual bicycle adventure. The Red Coat became our home away from home for three nights. Our rooms like the rest of this beautifully updated home were tastefully appointed and impeccably clean. The setting was idyllic... peacefully tucked away off the beaten path yet central to the region and a short drive (or ride) to its many attractions. Having booked all three rooms for our stay we drew straws to choose who stayed in which room... and everybody won (just check out the photos on their website). My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Sheaffe's Loft which was without doubt the largest and one of the most attractive B&B rooms we have ever stayed in... we really did hate to leave. The others in our group were equally pleased with their rooms and the group took advantage of the spacious balcony off the Brock suite to meet nightly to replay the day and enjoy the peaceful surroundings with glass of one of the local wines.
Sandra and Keith were exemplary hosts and went out of their way to accomodate our special requests (like safely housing 5 bicycles) and make us feel genuinely welcome and very much at home! Each and every one of their recommendations, whether for dining, buying fresh produce, wine tasting and places to see was spot on. Sandra's breakfasts were, in a word, exceptional! They often left our group debating between requesting a repeat performance or relishing the next day's cullinary surprise. As good as the breakfasts were, we equally enjoyed our hosts company and conversation. They made us feel like "old friends" who'd dropped in for a visit.
In short, our stay at the Red Coat was wonderful! Would I recommend it to others... absolutely!
It was one of the best B& B experiences we have enjoyed anywhere!

My husband and I stayed at the Red Coat this past weekend for our Mini-Moon, it was awesome! We have never been to the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, so this was our first visit, and we were not disappointed. The Red Coat Inn is located in Queenston, which is a short drive to Niagara Falls and a short drive or even a bike ride to NOTL. We loved that it was not in the hustle and bustle of a busy town. It was a nice quiet retreat after spending a day out. Sandra and Keith are wonderful, they are down-to-earth, and very personable - very easy to share a conversation with, and made you feel at home. They were also very helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do around the area. The breakfasts were very tasty - fresh local fruits and vegetables, good coffee, home baked goods and great atmosphere. We stayed in the Sheaffe's Loft. It was perfect for us. It was on the top floor away from the other rooms, so very private and secluded. If you are looking to have a romantic get away, and a bit more privacy, this is the room to stay in. We couldn't have asked for a better trip, better place to stay, it was terrific! Cannot wait to go back! Oh, and we highly recommend the Ravine Winery for dinner, the food is amazing, the staff and service wonderful and the view of the vineyard - stunning! Happy travels : )
