Literally made of old stones and sitting in the heart of downtown, the Olde Stone is contiguous to Hot Belly Mama's cajun rsetaurant, and they share a microbrewer in the basement. We've been coming here for six years while visiting our kids at Trent University, usually coming late at night when we want a good meal and great beer, but it's too late to have a full dinner at HBM. Try to get an old wooden table or booth near the front where you can people watch. It's super pub food, and I especially like the fish and chips, the bangers, chips, and beans with onions and peppers, and the pizza. But the best food in the house is the soup, the cheddar with ale, and the roasted peppers with garlic --- so incredibly good in winter, worth getting too warm in summer. The only thing I'd correct --- charging 25 cents for a take-home container for leftovers just isn't cool, especially when the server can see that impoverished students are being treated by a parent who's likely to tip well.
