“Amazing Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

I think this place is amazing! So historical and one-of-a-kind. I have since moved out of province since visiting, but show and tell many people about it and they are amazed, they may soon book a trip to Peterborough themselves!

Always interesting to see the lift locks in motion. If you have never seen how this works...worth seeing.

“An engineer's delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

My husband really likes machinery and the Lift Lock is an engineer's delight. The people in the visitor's center were really knowledgeable and helpful. They arranged for my husband to talk with the lift master at the lock itself. He ended up with all his questions answered and a very personal tour of the workings of the lock. Even the non-engineer (me) enjoyed watching the boats go up and down in the lock. We did not take the cruise - by another company and about $20 per person - as it was a damp and dreary day. The visitor center has a film, some exhibits, and a gift shop. It is free as is parking.
