“Great food, dimly lit and nicely decorated atmosphere, service at or below average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012 via mobile

Very pricey but the quality of food was worth it. Seating arrangement was a tad crowded. Well suited for groups (we were a group of 4), restaurant lacked romantic seating for 2. Call ahead and request a booth.

“High standards but higher prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Lots of crisp white linen and huge mirrors; attentive waiters and an expensive wine list. We were four and just had a main course - gnocchi, moule et frites and two steak et frites all were well presented and delicious. The wine list was extensive, the prices were not for the faint hearted, the JL Colombo Cotes de Rhone at $45 a bottle was good. The lunch cost $140 or £105 and for a down-town up-market bistro in the capital was possibly goodish value.
This is place for a special occasion like celebrating winning the lottery!

“Not a good restaurant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

They present themselves as a French style bistro. I was there for a lunch in August 2012. The decor inside is simple but cosy. The service was excellent. However the food and wine were terrible. I ordered a Pinot Noir: the wine was acid and not tasty, I could not see at all what Pinot Noir was in that glass. And then I ordered the soup of the day: a celery soup. It was impossible to detect any taste of celery in that soup. It was heavy, with lots of milk and cream, and they added a few large bits of blue cheese. Really a disaster. It is as if they do not cook there, but they just add ingredients one over the other like in a fast food restaurant. As main course, I had a "Moules frites". The fries were ok, but the mussels were overcooked, and no taste of the sea was perceptible. The juice was much too spicy for the subtlety of mussels. Actually, to be precise, they present the sauce as

Fennel – garlic – white wine – Old Bay broth – frites – chive aioli

But it is simply impossible to taste the fennel there. The result is a bit like an Indian curry sauce, so completely opposite to what it should be.

As a French bistro, one would expect that at least on person would speak French. But no, it was not the case. Worst, in their menu, they write "Alsatian Tart Flambe" instead of "Alsacian tarte flambée".

This restaurant reminds me of a similar restaurant in Palo Alto (CA): it was supposed to be an Italian restaurant, and actually the waiter had a bizarre Italian accent. My wife, who speaks a perfect Italian, asked him where he was from: he answered "I am from Rhode Island, I have no Italian knowledge at all, the owner asked me to imitate an italian accent".

Finally, the ratio quality/price is very low. Everything is overrated.

“Great food even greater prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

It is a definit recommendation for the food, very delicious! The service is outstanding and the winelist is huge!
Unfortunately it comes with a pretty steep price tag. In my budget this is a once a year thing, but to splurge, definitely worth it

“excellent choice for lunch too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

I recently took an out of town guest for lunch to Luxe, having really enjoyed their dinner selections several times.

We were extremely pleased with the service, and the food was excellent. Interesting note: we noticed a nearby table enjoying, and sharing, a wonderful looking cheese plate. It did not appear on the menu, so we asked our server who said that it appears on the dinner menu, but we could certainly have it at lunch if we wished. We did - and what a delight it was.
