Cinco de Mayo, while not a great memorable revolutionary battle for most Canadians it does provide a great opportunity to get out with friends and enjoy mexican themed food and The Lone Star was up to the task. We were a group of over 30 people and they easily accepted our reservation on a Sunday night and even accommodated more as people added themselves to our group at the last minute. The food was fabulous, both fantastic taste and potions large enough that many were taking doggie bags home. While the restaurant lacks a dedicated large group area they did a good job accommodating us in the general restaurant area. I will agree with other reviews that the venue is noisy and could use some sound deadening efforts as it was too noisy for conversation except with people adjacent to yo. They have a good drink selection offering a wide variety of unique and tasty drinks to enhance the dining experience.
I must comment on the service. Top notch. With well over thirty people in our party the wait staff did a fantastic job of getting the meals out as close as possible together, at least by table groupings and I did not hear a single complaint about missed or wrong orders. The organisational skills of the young staff surpassed that I have seen in many workplaces, skills that ill serve them all well in their futures. Clearly great personal effort and good training from the management. As well the manager was around throughout the evening delivering free drinks and chatting to individuals. This was also a common practice of the wait staff, not just asking if we needed anything but simple casual friendly conversation.
A great evening and highly recommended for either couples or those office party/dinners. Work on the sound deadening and this would be outstanding.
