On a recent hot, muggy night in Ottawa we decided to get away from the pubs for something different. The Taj Mahal is a long-standing Indian restaurant, and did not disappoint. Service was attentive, with regular water refills, the wine was nicely chilled, and while a little surprising that no Kingfisher beer was available, the Cheetah Indian beer worked just as well. There were five of us eating, and we particularly enjoyed the Prawn Puri appetizer and the Genghis Khan chicken. The chicken korma was delicious, the lamb was well-cooked, and the tandoori platter didn't disappoint. Bank Street is currently torn up for construction, but at 8:00pm the restaurant was almost fill, a good sign that people will make the effort to get here, even when access isn't particularly simple. We had so much leftover that we ended up eating essentially the same meal at home the next night!
