The Red Dot Cafe, formerly owned by the current owner of the Black Dog in Manotick, is a charming, well-run, comfortable place for a casual dinner (we go once a week) and, from the looks of it, a friendly pub scene adjoining. It also has a covered outdoor seating area popular with passing bicyclists. The ribs are outstanding (smokey rather then tomatoey), very meaty, and the portion nearly enough for two. The service is friendly, efficient and fast, the ambiance a little country and western, and the prices fair. So far as we can make out the Red Dot is the only reason for visiting Osgoode at all, and well worth the trip.
