“Good brunch, but busy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

As they only serve Sunday brunch expect a line. Also no one monitoring customers and new ones taking up tables before they've even ordered make for a bit more stressful experience. The food though is fantastic. Had the pulled pork on a biscuit, friend had the french toast sandwich. Both were great after a bit of a wait to get them - others who ordered after us got their food first. Great food, and sitting outside was quite nice, just a bit more rushed and busy than one would like.

“Hidden Gem in City Centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Art Is In has the best bread...loads of it...all different kinds...fresh pillowy goodness! They also have an innovative menu with all sorts of goodies fired up on the green egg. Love the breakfast flatbreads. The sandwiches and burgers are piled high with the most unusual combinations. This place is hidden away but those in the know line up to get in because we know we will not leave unrewarded.

“Don't miss this place!! Eat here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

This bakery has fantastic sandwiches and soups. The bread, buns and deserts are wonderful too. The bread was perfect, crunchy thin crust and soft inside. All sandwiches made for you. This was a bit hard to find, but worth it. Just west of downtown. They are one of about 15 businesses in a curved industrial building. The seating outside was very rustic and not scenic at all. Inside was noisy due to fans, but comfortable. Lots of locals coming and going buying bread and lots of them staying to eat too. Make this your first stop in Ottawa

“Parisian Croissants, Kick-butt Brunch in a random location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

Wow!

We have travelled the world and have tried pastries in Europe that we thought we would never find again. Well guess what — we were wrong. This place makes everything from scratch and it truly shows. Everyone we have brought croissants to falls in LOVE, with the Almond and the Chocolate Almond being the most popular.

I brought my in-laws here for breakfast with family who were visiting from China. My husbands Uncle said it was the best breakfast he has had anywhere in the world, and he's travelled a lot. He tried the buttermilk pancakes, the french toast stack and an almond croissant.

If you are planning to go on a weekend, go EARLY as this place gets busy fast and the good stuff is always gone first.

Really funky laid back atmosphere. You pretty much show up and get in line to place your order. There are 2 lines - one for just pastries, breads and drinks and another for actual meals. Send whoever you're with to scope out a seat right away while you wait if you plan on eating in, especially if you have a group. Inside the space (which is like an hanger with super tall ceilings and has an industrial feel) you can choose your own seating which includes picnic benches, bar stools and couches. Outside they have some benches (bleacher style) and some picnic tables.

If you're doing brunch and eating in, you take a number back with you to where you're sitting after you have paid and the staff will bring you your food.

They have a set menu which is their usual fair but they are always updating their brunch and lunch board with some pretty awesome meals, like bacon mac and cheese and duck confit salad.

Great gem kind of a random spot. You would never really stumble onto this place unless your a member of the Xfit gym next door (which, by the way, isn't too bad to look at while you eat outside).

Definitely check out this place for breakfast or brunch ... you will fall in love!

“Fantastic Brunch, not your everyday breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

We stopped in on a beautiful Sunday morning. The line was long but service was quick. The brunch items available sounded very unique. I tried the French Toast Stack with layers of bacon, eggs and Hollandaise sauce; unique and flavorful. My wife had a poached egg dish and her comments were similar. We went back on Monday morning for more of the same, but these unique items were limited to the brunch menu on Sunday. They still had plenty of fantastic pastries and sandwiches. We tried the Croissants, scones and cookies. All fantastic.
Next time in Ottawa, Sunday morning will be reserved for a Art Is In Brunch.
The only knock on Art Is In, is the setting. It's in an industrial complex and a large dumpster is right outside the door.
