“Spacious rooms and ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

We stayed 5 nights and found this hotel very quiet and comfortable and very clean. It had everything we needed and more. Plenty of places to eat nearby and only 10 minutes walk along the Rideau Canal to centre of Ottawa. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was great and plenty of choice - the breakfast room was quite small but no problem just taking it along to our room where we had plenty of space to eat. Would certainly stay there again next time we visit Ottawa and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends.

Enjoyed our stay there Labour Day weekend. Easy walk to the main sights. Several restaurants, pubs, a gas station, a Shopper's drug mart and lots of other retail/convenience stores around the corner. The room had a full kitchen, all the usual ammenities plus extras including computer and printer, DVD player, air purifier and a fan. It's a little tired/dated, but well-price at about $120 tax-in (plus parking). Included breakfast was good but the dining area is small. Only gripe is that both of their parking lots were full. Good thing street parking is free on weekends and we were lucky to grab a spot in front of the hotel when we arrived. Will consider a return visit.

We stayed in an executive suite on the 8th floor. Bedroom, living room, dining room and full kitchen plus a walk out balcony. Free laundry and an excellent breakfast assortment. All at a very reasonable price. The only downsides were that one of the two elevators were not working, the room a/c could not keep up with the heat, and parking is limited and expensive, $15 per day. Still, we would definitely stay here again when we next return to Ottawa.

I have been in this hotel some 5 years ago. It was outstanding by all measures. This is why when I traveled to Ottawa this time, I decided to stay in this same hotel . By all means, It is going to be my choice in the future, should I return to Ottawa for any reason. The best of this place was and is its STAFF. Very helpful, prompt and efficient.

On the other hand, the accomodation we had, was far better during the previous visit. That was probably because upon the then check in, our reserved suite was not ready and as a result the alternative was upgrading to one of the best suites the hotel had!. I was not as lucky this time, checking in "solo", but could not, however, stop my self of comparing!. The parking, as I recall, was FREE then. This time it is $15 per day!.The "OUT" Parking Lot did not change a bit, just it is not for free any more.

In conclusion, I hope that The Business Inn, continue to maintain its image and its loyal satisfied customers.

There are never any surprises at this hotel.. You are guaranteed a clean room and bathrooms are spotless. Yes it may be dated but you quickly forget about that when everything else is perfection. They now are serving hot breakfast and have someone who actually will make it to order for you. Very impressive...........what is not so impressive is watching people load up their plates like it was the last meal they were ever going to eat.

The Gym on site is an added bonus and location is perfect. Staff can only give them 10 thumbs up as they are the most accomadating I have ever encountered. I also love the fact that you get a fridge, stove and microwave in your room........and the beds are so comfortable, best sleep you can ask for.

Room Tip: I like the back facing the parking lot, I have been on the Maclaren side and still did not hear the...

Whenever I have the opportunity to stay in Ottawa, I choose the Business Inn, which is located at 180 MacLaren Street, just off Elgin Street.

I appreciate the excellent service that is provided by the management and staff. The spacious rooms equipped with everything you need while away from home, including a full kitchen, a computer with laser printer, and comfortable beds, are appealing.

Location: It's an easy walk to the Parliament Buildings, Byward Market, Rideau Mall, World Exchange Plaza, theatres, et cetera. If you want to take the bus, there's plenty of bus stops (OC Transpo) where you can take a bus (they are frequent) at a very reasonable rate (approx. $3.00). The drivers are friendly and very helpful.

Impressive place!

We recently stayed at The Business Inn for three nights, our first time there. The size of the 1 bedroom suite was great, getting away from the typical hotel room of other stays. Amenities, as in a full kitchen, dining room, large washroom and high quality soaps and shampoo, 46 inch panel tv in each of the living room and bedroom, ironing board and iron, a computer and complimentary internet, large balcony and continental breakfast as well the Globe and Mail and The Ottawa Citizen. Surprising to us was the availability of laundry machines and detergent, all complimentary. Additionally there is a fitness room.
Staff were always friendly and accommodating and other guests encountered were very sociable.
The location of the hotel is excellent. It is close to the Parliament Buildings, the Museum of Nature, the canal, the 417, Arts Centre and Byward Market. Whether touring or shopping,
handiness is it.
The hotel is a reconstituted apartment building. It lacks a fancy lobby and restaurant, however one does not live in the lobby and restaurants of high quality are all about you there.
If fitness is your thing, or simply sightseeing, the available pathways by the canal and throughout the city are merely a step away. We have been in Ottawa many a time. The Business Inn is certainly a keeper as to where to stay; the prices are good.
