when the world is getting crowded with big coffee chains on every corner cafes like raw sugar are a breath of fresh air which restore the soul. this very indie place is relaxed, with eclectic decor, art installations, books, magasines, interesting tunes, home made sandwiches, snacks and desserts, and more importantly beer. nice to have the option of a pint of beau's or a bottle of beer when reading your latest novel. interesting that raw sugar has opted not to offer wifi to avoid that plugged in/ turned off scene. on many evenings raw sugar presents music, singers, bands, dj's, and though it is a small room it has become an important part of the ottawa music scene. frequented by musicians and writers, nadia, the owner operator has created a buzz with raw sugar. located right next to the arch in china town, don't miss this place.
