As another reviewer stated, they do seem to take a $200 charge on your credit card on check-in. I don't recall seeing this in any other hotel I have stayed at.

The room was in good condition with a flat screen TV. Movies are quite expensive to rent (16.99).

The beds were comfortable and the room included a fridge and coffee maker.

The breakfast included white english muffins, one kind of small (possibly frozen) muffins, bread for toast, three kinds of cereal, milk, juice (orange only), coffee and hot water for tea and hot chocolate. It wouldn't take much to spruce up the breakfast if management pays attention to it. For example, WelcomeInns has a waffle maker, fresher muffins, hard boiled eggs in addition to what Days Inn offers.

The dining room is fairly large - better than WelcomeInns which is in a cramped space in the lobby.

We have stayed at this hotel several times with our yellow labrador. We had to visit Ottawa and we usually have a family member home to stay with him but on these occcasion he had to come so I searched for a hotel that allowed pets. The room contained two queen sized beds, flat screen TV, small fridge and a desk. A little cramped but we were basically using the hotel for sleeping so that was no problem. Even when we had down time the beds were comfortable to lounge on while we watched TV and someone was able to check email or surf the internet, very easy to log on and use. With pets you are on the main floor and near a back door which makes it easy to go out and give your pet a chance to take a walk, of course you are expected to clean up after yourselfs. There is a workout facility which we have not used.
The rooms are spotless and do not smell at all. I was expecting a remaining reminder of past guest but nothing of the sort was present. Of course you must sign a waiver saying you will not leave your pet unattended in the room and as responsible owners we would never think of doing so. Our dog was very happy to be with us and curled up by the bed and slept very comfortably through the night.
The free breakfast at this location consists of three types of cold ceral as well as instant oatmeal, toast, english muffins, sometimes mini muffins it they aren't gone, juice, milk, tea and coffee. You can also make coffee in your room. You can eat in your room or in the dinning area which has a TV set on news. You help yourself to as much as you like. Of course jam and peanut butter are also included. Not fine dinning but as part of your room cost a bonus.
If you book online you usually get a 10 to 15% discount from the price charged if you phone the hotel directly. Joining their points program is a good idea even if you think you may not be travelling again because you never know when the need may arise and there are benefits.

I, and colleagues, normally stay at the Bell's Corners Days Inn when coming to Ottawa for DCRA Meetings. You give us a reasonable rate, although it keeps going up! The hotel is comfortable and convenient for the meetings at Connaught Range. The restaurant food is not bad, and it is useful not having to go away from the hotel. I did not use the breakfast bar on this trip. All in all, it's pretty good.
