We needed 2 reasonably priced rooms in downtown Ottawa for the Canada Day long weekend. Although still quite pricey, we got very basic rooms about a half hour walk from the Downtown core in a somewhat sketchy neighbourhood. It was a Comfort Inn when we booked, but had been down graded to an Econo Lodge prior to our arrival. The accommodations were basic and comfortable. I found the cleanliness of the rooms and property were not quite up to par, but otherwise fine. We booked 2 rooms with 2 queen beds, however upon entering we found out one of the rooms only had I queen bed next to a head board where the second bed should have been. They did not tell us about this when we checked in, and nothing was done to accommodate us. We were give a $10 discount for the inconvenience. Internet service does not work in the rooms. The continental breakfast consists of coffee, juice, apples, bread, croissants, and cereal. There is a Tim Hortons across the street, and a convenience store at the gas bar next door. Public transit is available in front of the Tim Hortons to go downtown.
