We had a seven night stay at this Marriott hotel in November 2007. We checked in very late at night (as indicated on our booking) and it went smoothly, but no offer of assistance with our large amount of luggage. Although we booked and paid for a king room, the late check-in resulted in us being given a lower floor double room instead.
Room was very spacious, clean and well fitted out, though showing signs of age (e.g. inadequate bathroom ventilation, no master power switch near the beds, etc.). The main problem was elevator noise, unsurprising as we were very closely located to the elevators on floor 7. After two nights, we enquired about upgrading to the room we'd booked and that request was dealt with very quickly and in a friendly way, so we moved up to a 20th floor room with a view and king bed (as booked). This room was much nicer - but still plagued by the ridiculous amount of elevator noise, which persisted the rest of our stay.
12pm check-out time is friendly and received good level of assistance with storing baggage and loading taxi to the airport.
The hotel is in a reasonable location, though very limited dining options within walking distance (a reasonable Thai is very close, thankfully). We had a great meal in the Merlot revolving restaurant atop this hotel, great food, great views and not bad value. The same can't be said about the accommodation though - 7-night stay with internet access (no wi-fi anywhere here by the way) came to over C$2000 even including a couple of weekend discount nights, way too much for what it is in our opinion.
Good for business and access to downtown offices, etc. but tourists surely have much better value options than here.
