“"It Could Not Have Been Better"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Spent 4 nights at the Auberge King Edward (Aug. 1st - Aug.4th) and you could not ask for anything more. This was our first trip to Ottawa and our first time staying at a B&B. I do believe Richard has spoiled us and has set a mighty high bar for others. We thoroughly enjoyed our selves because of Richard's helpful suggestions and maps of the city. We stayed in the tower room which was perfect for us, especially enjoyed the outside balcony over looking the beautiful gardens. We would not hesitate recommending The Auberge to anyone, it has it all, the historic charm, the location, Richard's helpful knowledge and of course let's not forget to mention Sunny!

Room Tip: The Tower Room is preferred only because of the on suite Bathroom.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the King Edward. It was our 1st time in Ottawa an had no idea what to expect except that Ottawa was a bike friendly city. Well, it certainly is and our host Richard was extremely informative. First, the house is lovely which you can see by all the previous photos. We stayed in the Burgundy room. It has a nice veranda with table and chairs where we relaxed after riding. Breakfast was great and coffee was nice and strong. On our arrival Richard greeted us and proceeded to tell us all of what Ottawa has to offer. He supplied us with maps of the city for walking and for bike trails. Always with his laptop at the ready, he would pull up weather forecasts and maps of all the areas worth exploring for us. Loved the location as we parked our car, never used it because everything in walking distance. Stay here.

I loved the Auberge King Edward--the atmosphere, the spacious rooms, the location, the cotton towels, the quality sheets and well, Richard. His suggestions helped make our trip to Ottawa the best it could be. He really went the extra mile to make sure our entire stay was top notch. We will definitely be returning, and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.

Richard is the consumate host. He knows Ottawa and is very generous with his time. His recommendations for things to do, walking routes and interesting conversation were much appreciated. He makes you feel like an old friend. Sunny, his golden-poodle is a perfect gentleman and very friendly.
The property is an easy walk to Parliment Hill, the Rideau canal, shopping and dining. Our rooms were large, comfortable and spotless. The dining and living rooms were beautifully decorated in 19th century style.
All in all a great experience we would recommend to anyone.

After visiting Algonquin Parc, we arrived at Auberge King Edward in Ottawa where we we're stepping back into time about a hundred years. Auberge is a beautifull Victorian house. Every moment we expected Queen Victoria or King Edward to walk in the room:-) Our host Richard helpt us very much to see all the things in the neigbourghood that was worth looking at, so we saw Parliament Hill inside and outside. We went on a canal cruise cause of the warm weather. Thanks to Richard we had a beautifull time in Ottawa. Our room (we had the Tower Room) was beautifull and quiet. Bed was nice. Breakfest was awsome and really tastfull. Richard did his outmost to take care of us. If you ever want to visit Ottawa, we can absolutely recommend Auberge!!

Richard (and his very friendly and well-trained dog Sunny) welcome you to an almost fairytale-like house, which is extremely big and very old. Its decoration does it right, and you almost feel like you are taken back in time. Its location is simply fantastic, on walking distance from all of Ottawa's major sights. Richard knows all about 'his' city and he is happy to give you loads of tips of where to go (and when to be there to avoid the crowds!). Very nice breakfast. A home away from home.

Room Tip: We stayed at the 'Green Room', which has a shared bathroom, but you only share with one othe...

My host, tour guide, adviser, all at one! It was very short trip but nice because of this b&b is in a great location, and Richard - the house owner and host, really knows what a tourist is looking for. The house has a great size for the business, very nicely decorated. Breakfast was awesome! Even though the other guests could not speak much english, he was always making sure that every body was on the same page, during his explanations or on a single morning conversation. On our trip to Canada, this place was a delight! We will definitely come back!
