We stayed at The Lord Elgin Hotel for 3 nights during the recent Canada Day Weekend. We were impressed with all aspects of the hotel.
The price was right, the room and service were both excellent and the location was the best possible! We found this hotel to have all conveniences close at hand. With absolutely everything close by, there is no need to rent a car when staying at the Lord Elgin. We highly recommend this hotel to all visitors to Ottawa.

We arrived early afternoon, left our car with the valet and then walked everywhere during our stay. Our room overlooked the Jazz Festival and, with windows that opened, we were able to enjoy the concert without leaving our room. The music was not too loud and ended at a reasonable hour. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. One member of the front desk staff made a dinner reservation for us. The next day she inquired about our evening to make sure it was all that we expected. The rooms were large enough with newer furnishings and a very comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet offered quite a variety enough to please all. We are already planning another trip.

The Lord Elgin is very comfortable - nice sized rooms, very pleasant staff, a restaurant and Starbucks right in the hotel. The exercise room and pool were a bit of a disappointment but the location of the hotel and its ambiance more than made up for it!

Booked using the hotel website. While the rate was good - little else about the hotel really stood out and the room had some problems:

First the room:
1. The room had a broken ethernet cable plug and there was no wi-fi
2. a woman must have designed the bathroom counter - as the ledge above the toilet seat stuck out and as a result the toilet seat could not be lifted fully so it would stay in place, meaning a guy taking a pee had no choice but to fiddle with one hand or take careful aim. I gave up caring about my accuracy.
3. ONE pane of glass windows...and street noise was terrible, worse yet every evening a concert across the street.
4. No bench/table to put luggage on - not great if you have lots
5. Room was cleaned in the late afternoon - not great as you could not depend on a clean room before 3:30pm

The Hotel:
1. No lounge or bar - just some small set-up against the window by the front door for 4 or 5 people. No barkeep though...maybe the bellhop runs over.
2. Over priced restaurant but there are other choices nearby.
