We booked a 2 bedroom superior suite with another couple for a 3 night mini vacation in Ottawa. Great deal at "stay 2 nights, get the 3rd night free" (from City of Ottawa site). Fabulous hotel! It seemed quite busy but our floor was very quiet (5th). Our suite was spectacular ... Very clean, super spacious and the bedrooms were very private being at opposite ends of the suite, each with its own bathroom (one ensuite, one 4 piece hall bathroom). Beds were very comfortable, large tv in each bedroom as well as in the livingroom. Full kitchen, dining room and living room were in the centre of the suite. Kitchen had dishes and all basic items needed for cooking a meal. We felt totally comfortable and "at home" in this suite. Front desk staff was courteous and helpful. The last night of our stay we had dinner at the pub in the hotel; service was great, food was ok. The only downfall to our stay: My husband and I run a carpentry business so our primary vehicle is a large truck. Upon check in and being told parking was $21 a night (which we expected) the parking attendant told us we couldn't park in the underground garage as we wouldn't fit (not surprisingly). There were several other trucks belonging to guests, and also contractor's trucks (who were working on the building behind the hotel) parked in the back of the hotel in the "laneway" to the back entrance and parking garage, so that's where we were told to park. It was a squeeze manoeuvring through this but we managed. But the only option to leave this laneway was to back out onto the very busy street, somewhat nervewracking even with the attendant directing us. We walked for most of our sightseeing but the day we took our truck around the city there was no parking in this laneway when we returned, so we ended up parking down the road in their "overflow" parking lot. We were thankful and somewhat impressed the hotel at least offered this to its guests, we just didn't feel really confident leaving our truck off-site in an open lot but we had no choice. We do understand that it's downtown Ottawa and space is at a premium for anything, but it was just disappointing to pay that much a night and not feel that our vehicle was safe. So other than parking our stay was fabulous, we would highly recommend this hotel as long as you drive a car!
