Lots to talk about and lots of photo's to help make your decision.
checking in: Was actually easy...once you get inside. Getting into the area to check in was a nightmare. Where do you park? Why is it so crowded with sweaty construction worker cars? Why can't they make them park elsewhere so patrons can actually make it through?? The vehicle for their underground parking must not be over 6FT tall!! AND it's an extra charge for their parking 20 bucks a night or you'll have to find parking elsewhere.
Elevators: Fast and clean
Rooms: Fantastic! They even had a wine bottle opener which I brought one and didn't need to!! All the amenities at home are here! The pans stick like crazy so if you have a pet peeve with food cooked to the pans bring your own. Didn't bother me I like scrambled eggs!! Bathrooms clean and lovely. We had a two bedroom suite and we were happy to be separated from our two teens. They compained about noise from a baby in the neighboring suite. Soft beds and wonderful pillows! Free Wifi, great balcony check out my photos.
Location was great if you have the ability to walk everywhere. We had three members of our party down from surgery - one who had hip surgery and has to use a wheel chair for a while and she found the place amazing! So handicap friendly I was very happy.
Exercise room: A little bit of a pet peeve for me I'm afraid. Three treadmills only one working. Only two other kind of elliptical and even they were squeaking and tv's didn't work on them. The bikes were just okay. The weight training machines were great but I have weights at home I wanted to use the different cardio machines and I couldn't. Very disappointing. No pool either, so, another minus for such a lovely place. They would get more business if they had a pool on the roof they have the room for it outside on top. See my pictures showing pathetic chairs outside on the roof.
They do have a nice spa area nearby and very expensive grocers next door for things you forgot at home. Didn't go to the Bistro but it appeared to be lovely.
Quick point to be mindful of: parking is expensive in Ottawa - bring change or be able to walk great distances to everything or take a taxi. The Byward market was a cute place but was mostly for Adults. There is the candy shops and the Beaver tails of course but it's mostly for eating eating and more eating everwhere ou go. If you are hankering for Thai, Chinese, English Pub, Mexican, Fish Markets, Fresh produce, Burger Joints, or want to see the Obama cookies (President Obama surprised everyone by visiting a few years ago so the called their cookies Obama cookies) it's all there!!!
