I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Ottawa for a conference last week and was so impressed that I had to write about it! The staff at the hotel was some of the most professional and friendly that I have ever seen! From the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping, I was always greeted with a friendly smile and an offer of help. I was most impressed with the banquet staff… there was one woman, in particular, who was a major superstar. She knew every conference attendee’s name by the end of the first day. She was so friendly and attentive and truly made my stay at the hotel a great experience. I would love to clone her and bring her out west.

The food and facilities were great as well. I enjoyed all of my meals and loved the view from the meeting room window (despite the snow!). I’ll definitely stay at the Crowne Plaza the next time I’m in town.

This hotel is located at the hot of downtown ottawa.

++++++Parking is $16, you can park once and take your car once/day. Its not free in & out. The hotel was in the process of remodelling. The carpet borders were removed and it looked nasty. The hotel has a restaurant, tim hortons in the first floor.

-----------No wireless internet. For wired internet, you need to pay $10 and get the ethernet cable from the front desk. If you take a cable, you can save $10. They stopped the water by 12:00 - 6:00 AM and when we turned the water, we got dirty water. FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT, WE WERE HEARING PLUMBING NOISE AND WE COULD NOT SLEEP...HORRIBLE. AFTER PAYING $$150, I DO NOT WANT TO BE DISTURBED LIKE THIS. Other than this, the hotel is fine.

The Crowne Plaza is situated in the business district of Ottawa and when we arrived on a Sunday it was pleasantly quiet around the hotel. We were greeted at the door by a delightful young guy who took our luggage and waited for us to check in offering us some advice on what to do in the city, helped us out with maps etc. Whilst it is in the business district you are close enough to walk to everything - parliament buildings are minutes away downtown is only 15 minute stroll etc.

We arrived early and were not expecting to get in to our room and were pleasantly surprised when the receptionist who was also very welcoming told us we could have our room straight away. The room was lovely, spotless with loads of pillows and advice on how to get a good nights sleep. They even provide you with a CD player so that you can play the soothing CD they leave for you. You also get ear plugs an eye mask and a spray for your pillow. I used the plugs and mask on the 7 hour night flight home - thank you Crowne Plaza!

We had a couple of drinks in the bar and the serivce was excellent which was a common theme throuughout the hotel.

We were on our honeymoon travelling around Eastern Canada for 3 weeks and the hotel sent us up a basket of cheese and wine to congratulate us - we were really touhed with this gesture.

The swimming pool was fine and the gym adequate but oh dear the changing rooms - they were filthy (both days). This was a real shame as everything else about the hotel was excellent and this was a real pity.

Overall I would definately go back but sort out those changing rooms.

Stayed at Hotel week of Aug 24. The Hotel alarm kept going off. The rooms always warm when I stay there and no one seems to know how to fix the air conditioning very small bathrooms . Only average Hotel with a big price ...Time for Crown Plaza to up date the systems in the Hotel.
