Owner description: The Canadian War Museum is more than a museum that is internationally renowned for its symbolic architecture; it is synonym for inspiring and touching stories. Canada's rich military history is showcased through personal stories, artwork, photographs and interactive presentations. Tour the extensive permanent exhibitions and expand your knowledge of the conflicts that shaped Canada, Canadians and the world, as well as the roll Canadians played in them. Until September 21 visit the special exhibition Witness - Canadian First World War Art. In the opinion of many historians, the nation called Canada was forged during the First World War. Canadian artists at home and on the front created artworks officially and unofficially that document and interpret the impact of war and military events on Canada and Canadians. Drawing on the Canadian War Museum's rich and unique war art holdings, the innovative exhibition will show a significant number of never-before exhibited works and expand Canadians' visual understanding of the First World War in its international, national, and personal dimensions.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

We were on a short visit to Ottawa and had a limited opportunity to visit Ottawa's attractions. On the recommendation of a family member who lives in Ottawa, we chose the War Museum and were not disappointed. It is must to visit . . . the presentation of our history of war is most informative and the displays and presentations are excellent. I think educators should pay a visit and re-thinking how Canadian history is presented in our schools. We spent only two hours making our way through the galleries and only wish we had had more time . . . .

“Very informative and interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

This relatively new museum covers in much detail Canadians involvement in wars from past to present. The information was visually presented in such a way as to engage your interest. There were many artifacts, interactive displays and especially of interest to kids, a nice collection of various types of vehicles used during war. I especially liked the nose art displayed from various planes. There is also a gift shop and underground parking (you have to pay).

“Very moving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

This museum has excellent exhibits that capture Canada's rich military history. The three dimensional interactive displays engage children and adults alike. The photos are sometimes haunting and anyone who has military experience or family members who served will find their connection with the nation's efforts. Very very well done.
Washroom facilities and parking are convenient and clean. We did not try the "mess" cafeteria.

“Even a day trip is not enough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

This museum is a true tribute to those who have served Canada. There is a wide variety of static and interactive exhibits that highlight the military contributions, victories, and even defeats that Canadians have witnessed. The memorial also has a great exhibit of military vehicles and aircraft.

“Enjoyable visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

I was quite surprised how much our entire family enjoyed this museum. It was very educational, as well. The photography exhibit, 11 Women, is not to be missed.
Unfortuntaley there was some kind of insurance event taking place the evening of our visit so our access to the bottom level was partially blocked. If they had told us this was going to be the case we would have toured it first.
