“Not a conference centre at all!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014

Having stayed at one of these Residence and Conference centres in Hamilton we were ready for the no frills budget accommodation, but we were still disappointed. We circled the campus of the college several times looking for this but only saw the student residence hall. When it became clear this was it we parked up and checked in. The staff were very unconcerned that we had had trouble finding it and that wasn't properly signposted - saying they had had frequent complaints!!

The place was basically an average hall of residence - same format as Hamilton - a kitchenette with two bedroom and shower off it. As with Hamilton THE KITCHEN HAS NO POTS,PANS, UNTENSILS OR CROCKERY AT ALL! which means travellers cannot use the kitchen without buying the necessary equipment.

No breakfast provided unlike Hamilton residence and conference centre which was cheaper and a lot nicer. Does have games room and laundrette though we got lost down long corridors; just a student hall of residence - nothing more or less.

All in all a cheap option; only stay here is you cannot afford anything else.

One good note - it is easy to get here from the main western highway.

Room Tip: Good luck!!!

First of all, this is the residences of the St.Paul University and not a Hotel.
The place is very hard to find, there is no sign, you have to drive behind the university to find the main entrance of the residences.
There was only one luggage trolley for the residences, so we had to carry our luggage in our arms.
There is a small parking lot near the main entrance and it filled up soon, so you have to park your car at the university and take a 5 minute walk.
The studio is large, with 2 bedrooms, a kitchenette and a bathroom.
The A/C didn't work very well, 80F in the room !!
There is no bath in the bathroom, only a shower. There is a large fridge, a microwave, a table with 2 chairs in the kitchenette, but no cooktop, no pans, no plates, etc., so the kitchenette is useless!
The beds are not comfortable, a lot of broken furnitures (lamps), the towels are very small and worn.
There is a standard breakfast included with bagel, toats, cereals, coffee, etc.
The hotel is well located near downtown.

In conclusion, this is a college dorm and not a hotel.
It is well located but you don't have the comfort of a hotel.
For the price paid, I would like to have a hotel !

I am here for a National Championship and will be staying for a week. The rooms are clean and the kitchen is great. Yes you have to bring your own plates, cups and cutlery but it has a full fridge, microwave and bigger kitchen just down the hall with a stove. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is right beside a Loblaws and other stores, close to the 417 and downtown. Yes there are a few stains on the carpet but the sheets are clean and mattress great. In fact they were in the process of replacing tons of mattresses while I am here. If you want fancy, don't stay here. If you want access to a kitchen and lots o room to move around, this is your place

Had a 2 bedroom with kitchenette for cheap price for a place so close to downtown Ottawa. Free parking and easy to get into town. Could save even more money by purchasing groceries at grocers close by. Bar b q available in courtyard just needed cutlery and dishes. Kitchen had full fridge/freezer and a microwave but that was it! Staff were young friendly and very helpful. Hotel is in the process of updating most of the rooms, unfortunately we didn't get an updated room but it was still clean enough.

Room Tip: Request an upgraded (redone) room if possible.

I lived in this residence while attending school and I know that the pictures they show here are only of the rooms on the 5th floor (limited rooms). The other floors are older and worn down, not as nice.

We spent there just one night, its relatively cheap accomodation in some kind of student dormitories. On the internet that was listed that parking is free but it cost about 8 CAD. We had ,,apartment,, for 4 people with 2 rooms, and when we we left our room and close the doors (second door after main one), they cannot be opened so i went to reception and they looked like its absolutely normal so they sent to our room some ,,handyman,, who fixed it ... in the nearby there is a school canteen, shops etc ... room was noisy
