“Great open concept dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

I attended a party hosted at Divino and really enjoyed the open concept of the dining room. The food was quite good, although the desserts didn't quite meet my expectations. Their selection of Italian wine is wide and the bottle we selected excellent. Extremely attentive and helpful service. Overall very appealing atmosphere.

“Disappointing...twice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

I've eaten at Divino's twice with a group of adult students studying Italian, and I have been disappointed both times. These events featured a set menu, with very few options of appetizer, main and dessert. Perhaps the regular menu offers better choices. None of the items mentioned in previous reviews were avilable to our group. The prices were very reasonable, but not good value for money. Salads, when offered, were tiny; fresh pasta was ordinary with so-so sauces; main dishes generally featured a hunk of animal protein and little else; and desserts were ho-hum. The bread is always fresh and delicious and the coffee is excellent. Maybe for those who do not know Italian food it would be a new experience. I make better Italian food at home.

“The perfect meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

The mini risotto balls were a delicious start to the meal. The salad of mixed greens with shaved fennel , feta and watermelon was very refreshing. The pasta course of spelt flour pasta with a basil pesto was perfectly prepared. The tuna fron Whalesbone seared rare on a bed of local seasonal roasted vegetables was the highlight of the meal. The espresso was rich and creamy as was the peach mascarpone cheesecake. The level of service and knowledge was exemplary. The wine pairing greatly accentuated the food.

“Best Restaurant in Ottawa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

This to me is one of the best restaurants in Ottawa. We go every year for our wedding anniversary and have the wine pairings with our meal. It is a place to go to enjoy a leisurely mean and have your taste-buds explode in happiness. We have always had great service, great food, and a great experience. I would bring anyone here who was not really hungry before arriving - because it is a place to relax, drink, and eat and savour the food, wine and the company- and a waste if you just want to eat something because you are hungry.

“Divino”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

About the only good thing about this restaurant is It is located in the heart of the Italian district and Our waitress was GREAT and very informative. :) Reading all the other reviews I feel as though I was not at the same place.
A few of us purchased the same Groupons and there is only one time slot to redeem, IT being 5:30. I am guessing they were trying to advertise there restaurant by issuing Groupon voucher IF you have one you will be truly disappointed. They have two different menu's one for the Groupon and one for regular diners... This was no way to advertise at all... We were sitting in the restaurant and noticed the people around us were getting different menu's. OUR selection was very minimum..Our pasta dish was so small I had finished it in 2 folk fulls... Then we carry on to the main course .... Felt as though it was not cooked fully and got a slice of potato slice of zucchini and slice of carrot.. To make matters worse they had no desert..Moving on... The Cooks/Chefs were not professional at all...They were eating and drinking behind there work station..TO me unacceptable...AT one point they went into the back room and they came out chewing..NOT classy
Friends of ours went a few days later with a Groupon... They received the same menu and left very hungry and that is not a normal thing in the Italian community! In conclusion, portions and menu should be the same Groupon or not!!
