A lovely log cabin built in 1870 and nestled in a little bush about 8km outside of North Bay. Snug as a bug in a rug :) Immediately upon entering one feels totally at home. A fully equipped kitchen, cozy sitting room with a nice selection of reading material, boardgames and flat screen TV plus a nice entry way make up the downstairs . The walls are beautiful display areas for the many handmade quilts and wallhangings that are available for purchase if one so desires. Upstairs are two cozy bedrooms with a bathroom to share. The beds were sooo comfy and the whole cabin was very clean. The slightly slanted floors downstairs added to the total charm of the experience :) The hostess Heather is a wonderful lady and she supplied us with an excellant breakfast in the morning...muffins and jam, cereal, french toast with blueberries and syrup accompanied by peameal bacon, cheese toast, yogurt, orange juice and coffee. I would definitely like to go back sometime in the summer and explore the surrounding woods. If you like alternative energy Heather's husband Bill has lots of knowledge regarding the topic and has some in use around the property.
The only caution I would have is that if you have a feather allergy it might not be the right place for you. I loved the feather tick on the bed and the snuggly duvet but some might not. I would also add a couple more comfy chairs or floor pillows for lounging in the sitting room.
I am very glad I stumbled upon this hidden treasure on the internet while looking for a place to spend the night in North Bay. Thankyou Heather and Bill for sharing it with us.
