We stayed at the White Oaks resort & conference center for one evening after a winery tour in NOTL Ontario. We didn't know the area at all and my attempts to find a restaurant for dinner that evening weren't successful. I selected the LIV restaurant after reading the Tripadvisor reviews, felt well informed, and knew what to expect in terms of price and atmosphere. We didn't have time or energy that evening to drive back into NOTL, so the resort's restaurant was our only viable option. After reading the menu over online, I knew it was going to be pricey and my first preference would have been a less expensive, more casual option. However, we were celebrating an anniversary and deserved the special treatment. The food didn't disappoint at all. We tried two different appetizers and two different entrees and were pleased with the preparation and taste. Very delicious. My only concern was the price. For the atmosphere and level of service I felt the menu was overpriced. In addition, the atmosphere was subdued and relaxed, but I personally felt uneasy and awkward. The room felt almost too quite and everyone being careful not to clink silverware on plates or tip anything over, lest the mood be disturbed. Just felt somewhat pretentious to me. Perhaps not the "fine dining" atmosphere for me. The server was nice, but almost too professional, whereas the young man providing the complimentary breads/toppings cracked a smile and joked alittle with us. The restaurant manager stopped by to check on us and he was very friendly. Overall, our dinner at LIV was an enjoyable experience.
