The Stone Road Grille is one of those little places that those in the know know well. They tell me it's a foodie haven. And so it should be. It's out of the way, not on the main drag in Niagara on the Lake. The name is confusing because all the sign says is The REST. Not a mention of the Stone Road Grille anywhere that I could see. (There's a store there but I'll leave you to look it up). It's in the corner of a little strip plaza. they have take out pizza and sandwiches at REST TO GO GO attached through another door. It's small so you need reservations for dinner and they tell me it fill up fast. So...we went for a pre-theatre lunch. We've been there before and the food is always very good. But yesterday...yesterday was heaven. I had the Scallop Sweet Pea Risotto. Divine. the food of angels - perfect risotto made with peas and water cress topped off by a perfectly seared scallop the size of a little filet mignon. My friend had the moules frites in a toomatoy spice sauce and homemade fantastic fries. We washed it down with they home filtered and or carbonated water and eschewed the reputedly marvelous dessert or cappucionos. The atmosphere and decor are modern and homey. Mostly black and read with dashes of white. The service is terrific. Our server was cheerful and knowledgeable. You can see why they garner almost ecstatic reviews every single week. It's
a bit above average in price but very worth it.
