The moment you swing the white picket fence gate towards the grand entrance of Cecile's House, you are in for a delightful treat! Charming, warm, cozy, and oh so chic, Cecile's House is a breath of fresh air compared to the ordinary stuffy and outdated B&Bs. With it's inviting golden glow set by the ambiance of soft lighting, Parisian inspired interior decor, and soothing colour palettes, there is a serenity that is felt immediately and is hard to put in words. It's a fuzzy feeling of being home, with the tasteful beauty and feel of a high end boutique hotel.
Chris, the owner of this petit chateau, is not only a marvellous chef, but also a personable and attentive host. His attention to detail, which is visible in every corner of the house is unsurpassed.
My fiance had surprised me with a weekend getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake for my 29th birthday this March. He had heard me speak of the wonderful reviews I have read about Cecile's and how much I wanted to experience it for myself. So the darling man reserved us a 2 night stay. During this stay we were treated like Royalty! Chris even made a special plate for me on the morning of my birthday. It was as delightful to the eyes as it was to my sense of taste. A ripe raspberry appeared as if a budding blossom from a foliage of mint leaves perched on the rim of my plate with chocolate writing congratulating me with this special day. I must say that Chris is somewhat of a magician! After the most delicious French breakfast I have ever tasted, my fiance and I went to our room to plan our day, to find the room spotless clean, the bed made up as if it were as fresh as when we first entered it upon or arrival. We were so stunned because Chris was serving us during breakfast for the majority of the time and his escape went unnoticeable. This is exactly the kind of attention to detail I was mentioning earlier. Chris has mastered the art of entertaining and running a first class B&B and it shows.
The ease and efficiency with which he performs this "magic show" is astounding. From the little lavender pillows on the bed - meant to calm the nerves; to the hidden sound system timed accordingly with the day to play various tasteful selection of jazz and classical music; to the timed and sensor sensitive lighting system that keeps the house lit when needed; Chris' B&B is an orchestrated work of art, a performance, a labour of love! Its a truly enchanting experience!
I am sorry if this sounds like an infomercial, but I love writing art reviews, and this home was like a living work of art - with you, the guest, as a participating component.
My fiance and I were so very thrilled, we are looking for another excuse to escape the city to Cecile's, a little piece of French Paradise!
Thank you so very much to Christ and Josie.
P.S. Chris even cleared our car from snow that had fallen the night before to give the guests one more gesture of hospitality for the road.
