“A weekend in France without the Air Fare!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We recently spent the weekend at Cecile's House in Niagara on the Lake. The hospitality of the host and the charm of his home are absolutely amazing. This truly is a gem in the world of B&Bs, Close to downtown NOTL within walking distance of the everything you want to do from Theatre and dining to just relaxing, walking and enjoying the area. Chris is most helpful and offers good recommendations for dining if required. The home is a step back in time and what you would expect in a fine Century home in France, well appointed with room for you to sit and relax. Chris is a fabulous chef and prepares a truly European style breakfast including the fresh baked Croissants, Scones and other assorted breads and loafs. The mini Clafoutis are delicious - dessert for breakfast who would have thought. Our favorite was the "pain au chocolat" (chocolate croissant) these were better than the ones we have eaten in Paris. We love coming to visit Chris and Cecile's House. Thank you Chris. Looking forward to our next trip. F&A H

Cecile's House is beautifully maintained inside and out. The landscaping is particularly stunning. My husband and I picked Cecile's House for its proximity to the main street of NOTL, but our expectations were surpassed. We spent one night in the smallest room and the bathroom was just down the hall. The breakfast is memorable and decadent. Chris couldn't have been a more gracious host!

We braved the cold to stay overnight in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and couldn't have picked a better spot. Cecile's House is wonderfully decorated, and Chris is a fantastic host. We stayed in the Country Room, which was ultra-comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was absolutely delicious as well. I'd love to come back when it's a bit warmer outside!

We were welcomed into Cecile's House by Chris the owner and host. Chris is very friendly and offered suggestions on where to eat and what to see while in Niagara on the Lake. I have been to NOTL before as I am fairly close to this area but it has been years since my last visit so I was not very familiar with restaurants and shops nearby. Chris also provides the use of a computer to his guests with helpful links on the desktops to restaurants and sights available in the area - we found this very useful since it was always available.

Cecile's house is located literally steps away from Queen Street - Niagara on the Lake's main downtown area filled with quaint shops and restaurants. We found this to be the most convenient during our stay. Upon my booking I did not realize exactly how close we were going to be to the downtown area so this was a very nice surprise considering that it took us roughly 2-3 minutes to reach downtown.

I don't think we could have picked a more perfect place to stay in NOTL. Chris' attention to detail in the home is impeccable. It is evident through his decor that he has excellent taste in design. The home is beautiful, elegant, charming and cozy from the inside and out. We stayed for a total of two nights and we wish that it could have been longer!

Each morning Chris provided a breakfast consisting of freshly baked goods, fruit salad, selection of cereals, coffee, tea as well as many other items. The presentation in the dining area is just as beautiful as the rest of the home. As a guest there I truly felt that everything had been taken care of and that everything had been thoughtfully prepared which is why I did not find the need to make any further requests from Chris - but if I would have had any I am sure that Chris would have been more than willing to offer his help.

Thank you for your hospitality and kindness Chris!

Our weekend stay at Cecile's was magnificent. Everything from the cleanliness of the rooms, it's location and the quality of breakfast in the morning made it an extremely enjoyable weekend. Chris was a great host and I look forward to going back to visit again in the future.

We planned our return trip to Niagara on the Lake soley around the availability of securing a room at Cecile's House. We were entertaining a family member who had never stayed in NOTL before and wanted to ensure her experience was special. Chris and Cecile House did not disappoint. The house is specatularly elegant, warm and inviting with a beautiful combination of soft colours and textures. We stayed in the Master's Suite this time which was fine for three people (the front bedroom is connected to the back bedroom by a lovely dressing room, small sitting area and bathroom). The breakfast room downtstairs is pretty and cheerful and each group of guests sit at their own table (there are only three guestrooms so you are never overwhelmed by a crowd).
Breakfast is a delicious combination of sweet and savoury treats including a small hot entree, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs with slices of real ham off the bone. I cannot say enough about the croissants or pain au chocolat. The preserves are appropriately fresh and local.
The location of Cecile's House is perfect as is pretty much everything about it. We asked our guest what she liked best about our weekend and she said it was the beautiful house inside and out. Thanks Chris.
