Last year my sister booked me several places that we could have a romantic dinner for 30 in NOTL, when we stepped into the Grand Victorian Eva was so pleasant. We had it between two places and once my husband (Fiance at the time) stepped into the Grand Victorian I could tell by his smile this was it. We were told there would be a wine makers dinner where the Chef Robin Howe would be cooking so we decided before we made our final decision we would have a taste of his pairing menu. We were delighted that the food matched the ambiance of the Grand Victorian.
We rented the home for our intimate wedding reception and each and every guest said that is was the most memorable evening. They still talk about it!
We pulled up in the evening after our church ceremony to the candle lit home and you could feel the years of love, family, laughs and the guests were immediately astounded with the champagne and appetizers served on the front veranda.
We had our florist drop by and put some arrangements up, Eva was fantastic and got us beautiful gold bamboo chairs, wonderful antique plates and wonderful candelabra’s.
Their were so many quality wines we decided to also serve it at our 300 person wedding which was held a few days later at a Golf Course.
We just stayed at the Grand Victorian for our One year anniversary and are so happy that we have this time together to play cards with candles listening to old records with no distractions. We biked into town on the amazing bike path along the escarpment (Only about 15min), and had a wonderful gelato at Nina's and shared a Crepe from Joe (She was an apprentice there and so kind). Archie at Reif told us to go to this little treasure Cheese Secrets in downtown and we got some Reif raisin/walnut bread, grabbed a few bottles of wine and some delicious cheeses, smoked salmon and jelly and had a wonderful afternoon snack on the front veranda where we chatted with an amazing couple who comes to the GV seasonally. I read a few of the other reviews today and thought - maybe your relationship is doomed to fail if you can not find romance in such a marvelous lovely B&B, however realizing that's not so nice I'm guessing that if you were expecting a pretentious stuck up space than this is not the place for you. We are so lucky to have had discovered such a jewel and look forward on spending many future anniversarys at the Grand Victorian :)
Our Bed was cozy and rooms spotless.
