We went to Vineland winery on a Saturday in early August. The winery is beautiful - very picturesque. A road leads to the winery, restaurant and B & B. We first went for a wine tasting, which was excellent. Regular wines were $0.50 each, late harvests $1.00, ice wines $2.00 each. But if you buy wine they'll give you a good discount. At the time we were there (5:15pm-6pm), it wasn't too busy.
We then went to the restaurant (had reservations for 6pm). We sat on the patio, which has a fantastic view of lake Ontario and the winery. I would say the best view is the seating indoors, b/c it is a step elevated so you get a better view. However, sitting outdoors gives you that nice gentle breeze, which is something you can only do in the summers. Needless to say, the outdoor seating was packed, but not loud. Most people were quiet. Mainly couples and some family groups.
The food was absoultey fantastic. We've been to Penisula Ridge and Inn on the Twenty, and the food here was just incomparable. The gnocchi was amazing (they won awards b/c of it) and so was the aged ribeye. They had fresh herbs and flowers as decoration for the food. It was truly delicious, fresh food. Everything is made locally. We were truly impressed by it all. The service was also excellent - the wait staff friendly and knowledgable. And the portions were not small. We each had an appetizer, a main dish, dessert and 2 glasses of wine for a total of $250.00 (incl. tips/tax). Of course, you could get a way with paying much less (the main dishes were $35-40 each).
Afterwards we went for a walk around the vineyards - a very peaceful, quiet walk.
I liked the restaurant better than Inn on the Twenty and Peninsula Ridge b/c their restaurant did NOT match to this restaurant (the quality wasn't as good, and the portions were very small).
Overall, I LOVED this winery. The food was amazing. The wine excellent. The staff friendly and knowledge. The view fantastic. The ambience romantic and peaceful. I would recommend it for a special dinner (i.e. birthday, anniversary) or any other day you feel like splurging on a nice dinner.
