This was our second stay at The Charles Inn, and for good reason. From the second you walk through the doors, the staff at The Charles will make you feel like you're the only guest under their watch.

Truly, your wish is there command. For such an upscale place, they truly are humble and welcoming as well. Likely, you'll be greated with a personalized gift in your room, and you can expect and extremely peaceful stay.

We stayed in a smaller room, the Sunflower, but it was wonderful. On site food is out of this world. The restaurant itself is worth every penny, but even your included continental breakfast is awesome. The fresh croissants, Greaves jam, and everything else on the plate is delicious.

You can't go wrong with The Charles Inn. We've now been twice, and we'll continue to return each year.

Every year we select a Niagara On The Lake restaurant to celebrate the anniversary of our first dinner date.
This year we selected the Charles and we're not disappointed. The number of Thursday night điners was exceeded by staff due to snowy weather.
We began with a sauvignon blanc and split a pan seared foie Gras with poached pears and a foie Gras mousse which had us wishing we had each ordered our own.The entré we both selected was roast breast of duck, perfectly prepared with a sweet potato puree and a delicious ragout.
Desserts we shared were a cream cheese cheese cake with a raspberry sorbet and a chocolate paté with sour cream ice cream.
A pressed coffee and we were done.
Both service and food were impeccable and provided good value.
Well worth another visit.

Charles Inn Hotel...Where do I start!?, My Husband and I opted to have a "stay-cation" and headed for Niagara On The Lake for a 3 night Getaway at this incredibly charming 183yr old B&B at 209 Queen St. Has the coziest comfy beds and luxurious heated tile floors in their gorgeously updated and modern bathroom facilities. We enjoyed fluffy towels, cozy robes & very nice spa quality toiletry samples. In the morning we would wake up to the smell of coffee eggs and bacon as well as baked goods, delicious coffee, an amazing tea selection and a decadent continental breakfast; what an incredible way to start the day especially before heading out to the local farmers markets (Walkers!), the "whirlpool", Gift shops, downtown NOTL & the Falls, the Butterfly Conservatory. We had a beautiful Thanksgiving Dinner and even got two glasses of gorgeous local champagne on the house because it was Our Honeymoon!! Charles Inn has the most warm, bubbly, welcoming and friendly staff both at the desk, in the bar and in the dining rooms. We will be returning for sure in the fall for Our 1yr Anniversary!. This place is a hidden gem for sure, I wouldn't change a thing about our stay except that it ended too soon :).

This was our first visit to NOTL. we found the Inn to be charming and quite relaxing. Sara was knowledgable and kind. She made us feel at home as soon as we arrived! We loved that we could call for coffee, tea or hot chocolate at any time to be delivered to our room. We took advantage of this several times and it was delivered quickly by the courteous staff. We stayed in the " Library". The King sized bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The room was tastefully decorated and very clean. The stores, restaurants and pubs are all a short walk away. We enjoyed the continental breakfast of, yogurt and granola, croissant and jam, hard boiled egg, brie cheese, smoked ham and salmon. I would definitely recommend this Inn, you will not be diappointed!

My partner and I spent an incredible weekend celebrating his birthday at the beautiful and historic Charles Inn. Our experience was wonderful, from start to finish. The staff went out of their way to make our weekend an enjoyable one, beginning with freshly baked cookies and cake to help us begin the birthday festivities and champagne with our dinner.

Our room (the 'Magnolia') was charming and featured a queen sized bed and the most luxurious bedding. The room also featured many modern amenities (rain head/glass enclosed shower), while retaining the historic charm that initially attracted us to the Charles. The inn itself is beautiful with a romantic ambience, settled in a picturesque location downtown close to shops and wineries with a walking/biking trail that backs onto the property.

Complimentary beverages were served throughout our stay, as was a continental breakfast in the morning which included smoked salmon, brie, blackforest ham, compotes and jams from Greaves, yogurt/granola parfait, and perhaps the best croissant one could find outside of Paris - an ideal way to start the day!

Our dinner at the restaurant was equally delicious and we both commented that the meal was one of the best we've ever had. We had the fortune of visiting the inn on the same weekend as 'Fabulicious' and got to experience the creative genius that is Steve Sperling and his restaurant team. The hand rolled potato gnocchi and crisp skin Atlantic salmon were particularly outstanding.

The service was impeccable and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. We cannot recommend the Charles Inn enough and look forward to our next visit!

From all of us here at The Charles, thank you so much for choosing us for your celebration, and for letting us and other travellers know about your experience! The Magnolia room is adorable and we hope you will return in the warmer months so that you can enjoy its large private verandah! I have passed on your comments to Chef Sperling and his team, who are grateful for your kind words. We hope that your first trip to The Charles is one of many to come!

Safe Travels.

We were visiting NOTL and stopped in at the Visitors building to get some information. We were referred to this hotel. We liked the location and wanted to be able to walk to dinner. So we went in the afternoon and asked at the front desk if they had a room. The woman at the desk said she didn't know and come back later. My husband and I shook our heads and left. We came back later and new person on the desk said they did. We paid a 159. for a Sunday night with barely anyone there and told they weren't sure if our room would be available if we wanted it for Monday night. We were given the Sunflower room. The room was small and you had to walk up stairs through a veranda and down some stairs. The room was clean but only one spot for a suitcase. The bathroom sink was huge but no spot to put your toiletries. The bed was comfortable. The staff we had after the first try at check in was very helpful and pleasant. Biggest downside, our room was over the swinging door the staff used and till the staff left we heard the banging and as soon as the staff got there in the morning it started up. When I checked out I informed them and all I got was a shrug and I commented it seemed slow, she informed me they only had one room booked for Monday night, so not sure why we were being led to believe differently. Overall we found the place charming, with a great location but with some issues.

Room Tip: besure to check location of room if you have trouble with stairs

Thank you so much for letting us know about your experience. We truly strive to be exceptional, so it is disappointing when our guest’s experience anything less. I am surprised to hear that our Guest Services team was not able to inform you of our availability as we have knowledgeable and experienced Guest Service Agents who are always happy to offer the best room at the best possible rate. While we were almost full that night, we certainly had rooms and, further, should have easily been able to accommodate a second night. I will be sure to speak with staff regarding the issues you have brought forward. The Sunflower room is one of our smallest rooms and falls into our Petite Queen category which is an excellent value for Niagara-on-the-Lake, especially considering our location and our fabulous included breakfast, parking, and Wifi. While the Sunflower Room is quite comfortable, it does not have the same amenities as some of our other, larger, rooms that boast King beds, verandahs, large soaker tubs and fireplaces. The Charles was built in 1832 and was at one time a private residence so, as you can imagine, sound does carry more than it might in a more modern building, especially one built specifically as accommodations. I will, however, speak to all staff to ensure that more care is taken when entering and exiting the building, particularly during the ‘quiet’ hours. As you can see from our other reviews, the experience here is typically outstanding and we sincerely hope you will offer us another opportunity to welcome you back! I would love to look after the details of your stay myself, so should you decide to return, please feel free to contact me directly at slegault@charlesinn.ca Thank you again, we really appreciate your feedback.

Safe Travels.

Excellent meals and we really liked Jason who served our breakfast, which was the standard continental. Their standard continental included a small croissant with jam, smoked salmon, ham, brie, yogurt. Check-in and out went smoothly and staff were very nice. We could call down for coffee, tea or hot chocolate since not provided in the room, and we did call for coffee since breakfast service started at 8:00 and we rise early. They very quickly delivered a French Press with enough coffee for refills. It would be a bit of a splurge to stay here often, at least for us, but NOTL tends to be pricier than Niagara Falls.

Room Tip: Magnolia Room would be best in warm weather; our stay in November was cool, too cool to sit on the v...
