To the reviewer that complained that Riverview didn't offer a tour, I would suggest doing research before visiting a venue. Riverview's website clearly states that tours are by request pending availability...
That being said, I contacted Riverview about a month in advance of my visit and informed them that I would be proposing to my then-girlfriend, now fiancee prior to arriving at their facility and inquired about a tour. The manager, Mike, was more than accomodating. I arrived about a half hour early with my fiancee and informed a staff person that I had a 1pm tour, and they immediately knew who I was with out having ever met me. Mike made it a point to let his staff know that I was proposing to my fiancee, and one of the staff asked me if I already popped the question before giving congratulations. We were given a tour with one other couple. The tour guide, Pat, was very nice and very knowledgeable. Very educational tour. They have great tasting wine, and they even allowed us to taste some of the grapes that were still on the vine.
Concerning size, the tour guide said that they are on the smaller side of the small wineries in the area. So it is very understandable that the staff may not be available to give a tour if not notified in advance. Although it is small, it's a very popular winery, given how busy it was when I was there.
I will ABSOLUTELY return EVERY TIME I visit Niagara-on-the-Lake!!! Riverview will always be special to my fiancee and me.
