We stayed for 2 days in the end of April, I was traveling with my husband and parents. Elizabeth and Matt were wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful from reservation to check out and we couldn't have asked for a better stay.
We found Etherington Manor B&B on line and were impressed by their website which was easy to navigate and had lots of pictures of the rooms. We booked the Lena and Petronella suites through the website.
We received an automated email confirmation shortly after booking. They requested to know of any dietary restrictions or special requests. I emailed with a request for meat free main dishes and I also noted some particular favorites of the party and our expected time of arrival. Elizabeth emailed back very promptly confirming these requests would taken care of and gave some additional directions to find them which we found very helpful.
Unexpectedly there was a bit of a storm the day of our arrival with some very strong winds toppling trees which closed a few roads and had the power out in the area for several hours before our arrival. Elizabeth very kindly emailed a warning and kept us updated on local conditions. Thankfully the power was back on and road conditions improved enough that we were able to keep to our original arrival date, if a bit later in the evening than expected.
The rooms were lovely, recently redone in soothing colors and classic clean lines. Warm and inviting but not fussy or cluttered. Each room has it's own four piece ensuite with jetted tub, perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day of sightseeing. Both of our rooms had fireplaces and private balconies that overlooked the back yard. On the landing was a common kitchenette for the three suites with coffee maker and a small fridge with water and soft drinks. And there was also a common lounge for guests as well.
The food was excellent! Elizabeth had quite a menu prepared for us, fresh fruit, breakfast potatoes, bacon and home made pastries, coffee and juice both mornings in addition to the main, egg frittata one morning and banana french toast the next. Everything was superb, our particular favorites were the rhubarb muffins and the banana french toast.
Everything was truly lovely, we will most defiantly be staying here again on our next visit to the area.
