This review is overdue. I never officially give reviews for things like this but my experience was so amazing that I had to leave my comments.
First off, this trip was for an engagement proposal to my girlfriend that went off without a hitch. I would like to thank Kaitlyn MacDonald first and foremost for organizing all of the details for the weekend. There wasn't anything to stress over as her and the rest of the hotel staff took care of everything. This allowed me to enjoy every moment.
The Riverview Suite was very nice and was set up wonderfully when we arrived. Freshly baked cookies, truffles and personalized stationary made us feel very welcomed. Prearranged roses for the girlfriend along with nice classical music playing when we arrived also made the room very inviting.
The European breakfast was great! It's nice to have something a little different and upscale than your typical bacon and eggs. Even though I love my bacon, I was happy to swap it out for some fresh items as well as some smoked salmon.
During the day I proposed to her down near the lake and she was just overwhelmed! Phhew, she said yes!
We got ready for an early dinner and decided to try the wine and cheese tasting in the lobby which was delightful. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
A horse and carriage took us over to a sister property for dinner (The Charles Inn) which was organized by Kaitlyn. It was a nice ride and thoroughly informative. Though currently living in Toronto, I grew up in Niagara Falls and didn't know half of the history that was told to us by the driver.
The Charles Inn was amazing. The food was thoroughly enjoyed and we would definitely recommend it as an option for a nice dinner. We would definitely go there again.
When we returned to the hotel, there was champagne on ice with glasses sitting on the table in the main room. Rose petals and lit candles were placed throughout the entire suite. It was amazing and the now engaged lady was even more thrilled. It was just a great setting for the end to a lovely day/evening.
We managed to sleep in the next day and missed breakfast. The staff was kind enough to put together a breakfast tray for us which was extremely appreciated.
Overall we had a great weekend and will definitely be coming back for an anniversary or even just a small getaway. The Harbour House feels very homey with it's elegantly classic feel.
We had a very romantic weekend and we couldn't have hoped for anything more.
