We booked a 10am jet boat our of Niagara-on-the-Lake as a way to see the niagara river and change the pace from the prior day's winery crawl.... Its slightly cheaper at this hour but you need to book in advance b/c some time slots get filled up when its' busy. Don't wait till the day of your desired ride to book or you might not get a spot. This is one of the most fun boat rides I've ever done. It's about an hour from start to finish. They take you up the river towards the Whirlpool section of the Niagara River which is just down stream from Niagara falls (you won't see the falls), On the way, you'll get to learn a little bit of Niagara history and the captain will do a few 360 spinouts to get you ready/fired up for whats to come.
The actual section of rapids that you hit is relatively short in length but you will go up and down them many, many times. These rapids are massive and you really get a sense of how powerfull they are when you are cruising over them in a 1500 horsepower jet boat. When you come back down the rapids, you are hit with massive walls of water that will leave you sitting in knee deep water (the boat self bails the water, so no worries, it won't sink...). We were in the 3rd row and got soaked. Everyone gets soaked though, so wear your bathing suit or something that you'll be comfortable being wet in. What a thrill!
