Last weekend, we stayed at the lovely bed and breakfast called John's Gate in Niagara on the Lake. The hostess and owner Meheroo was charming and made us feel right at home.
John's Gate is an exceptionally neat and clean bed and breakfast.
Our sunshine yellow and wedgewood blue room featured an extremely comfortable King size bed with Laura Ashley bedding and a larger than usual ensuite.
The beautiful living/dining room was festively decorated for Christmas and it was wonderful to sit in front of the fire while drinking the complementary aromatic coffee as the snow drifted gently outside the windows.
Meheroo has stocked her buffet for the convienence of her guests and coffee, tea and assorted beverages are always available.
We were not sure where to dine the first night there and with Meheroo's help, we were able to decide on the Pillar and Post. She made the reservations for us and we were extremely pleased with the food and the service.
Breakfasts at John's Gate are a gourmet delight. We particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon/ scrambled egg vol-au-vent .
John's Gate is conveniently located and it is a short pleasant walk to the historic downtown area.
Meheroo provided us with coupons to local stores and wineries and suggested places that we might be interested in visiting.
Will we go to John's Gate again? Most certainly, as it was one of the most pleasant and memorable stays that we have had at a bed and breakfast.

John’s Gate Bed and Breakfast provided the perfect and affordable base for our grand journey. Tucked away on a quiet side street, it was only a few minutes stroll to the downtown core for shopping, restaurants and sight-seeing. And after all that walking and shopping, wining and dining, we were guaranteed a restful night’s sleep in comfortable luxury. Our room was very warm, bed soft and cozy; and with its own bathroom that was immaculate and clean.

We started each day with a full and lavish 3-course breakfast, enough to fortify one’s spirit for each Day’s new discovery experience.

Our hostess was very friendly, yet meticulous in her attention to every detail and ensuring her guests’ every comfort. She had an extensive knowledge of the history and sights of the area.

If you are looking for a weekend get-a-away, a chance to enjoy Nature’s serenity, sample the tastes of Ontario’s “wine country”, and stroll through a picturesque town, then a visit to John’s Gate Bed and Breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake would be your little treat to yourself.

“Great Weekend”

John's Gate Bed and Breakfast

Toronto,Ontario Nov 3/2007

We were recently offered a weekend in Niagara on the lake and from reviews and word of the mouth we decided to stay at Johns Gate Bed and Breakfast.
This is not our first visit as we usually attend the Theatre, take wine tasting tours and spend mostly all the long weekends in the Niagara Penninsula, we find this better than owning and going to a cottage. After much discussion we will be spending all of our future visits to the area at Johns Gate Bed and Breakfast as a result of the hospitality that we encountered there recently.
Our Hostess Meehroo who is very knowledgeable of the area , provided us with coupons for our favourite (wine tasting), she arranged for our Dinner and Theatre to see" I am getting Married /Murdered in the Morning and was there to provide us with details for a walking tour of the surrounding area.
Her Bed and Breakfast is spotless, very clean and tidy, the paintings on the walls are very soothing ,the rooms bright and the surrouding lawn was well manicured.
We were treated to gourmet breakfasts with lots of juice ,coffee and tea. The most enjoyable part at breakfast was the pleasant conversation she carried on with us,these were conversations that were eye opening and all of us at the table were able to join in and speak .We were able to break the ice and to talk with our other weekenders in her absence.
Next spring we will be reserving the entire home for our parents, and another couple. If you have found something great you should always share it and not be selfish. JohnsGate Bed and Breakfast is now Our "Home" away from Home and I highly recommend it to anyone searching for Peace and contentment on any given time.

We loved our room, the food, and most especially - the company. The breakfasts were gourmet wonderful!! The hostess, Meheroo, is generous with her time, her knowledge of the area, as well as her obvious love for making her guests feel welcome. John's Gate Bed & Breakfast is the way to go if you're looking for 'at-home' comfort where you are treated as important as friends and family.
