Owner description: Colaneri is a new family-owned and operated winery that hand-harvests the finest grapes to produce premium VQA award-winning wines from its surrounding vineyards. Most of the wines are made with the traditional Italian appassimento style of drying grapes, including a large portfolio of red, white and dessert wines. A new series has been introduced, made in the “recioto” style of making dessert wines. The winery is built in the Romanesque style featuring a captivating panoramic view of the vineyard and escarpment atop the St. David’s Bench appellation. The wine tasting bar overlooks the production area, allowing visitors to see the process. We, La famiglia Colaneri, are always on hand to share the experience and the passion that went into the making of our wines and our winery.

“Rude and unwelcoming”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Despite the gaudy exterior (they are trying to hard to impress), we decided we wanted to give this place a try. When we entered the winery however, we were told (by Nick Colaneri) that we would have to stand "over to the side" and that we would have to wait about a half hour before having a tasting due to it being busy. I was astounded as 1) it was not exceptionally busy and 2) I've never been asked to stand out of the way EVER when visiting a winery. All of us in our party (8 women around 40 yrs of age) found it rude an unwelcoming. As we left, I mentioned to Mr Colaneri that we did not feel welcome and that it was an unpleasant way to be greeted. He became confrontational and explained that he didn't want people budding in front of other people. DId he think he was bouncing at a club!?!? Ridiculous. When I calmly reiterated that as a potential customer, I wanted to give him the feedback that we did not feel welcome, he appeared to disregard what I said and continued to argue with me. We were appalled that an owner would be so rude to a customer. He seemed to be completely disinterested in how he was presenting himself and how he was representing his business.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you avoid this winery as there are plenty more in the area who would be appreciative of your business. All others we attended were warm and happy to have us there.

“Wonderful Tasting Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

They are still doing construction on their facilities. Once inside, the atmosphere is great. This was our second visit, and it was as good as our first. We had a fantastic person pour us our tastings. She informed us about the wines and the area. Highly recommend visiting this winery.

“Great wine, friendly people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We went to 4 wineries while in Niagara-on-the-Lake and this was our favorite. The staff was very friendly, it looks awesome, and the wine was our favorite. We also got a voucher from our hotel so our tastings were free, and this is the only place we bought a bottle of wine.
