“Excellent getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We arrived a little early and were able to check into one of our rooms which was great. The checkin was fast and staff were pleasant and helpful. They moved our 2 rooms to the main floor from the 2nd floor as my father inlaw has a walker and would have a hard time walking the stairs. The rooms are ok. Decor is dated but has the English country feel. The beds were very comfortable. We had a room with a window overlooking the inner garden. There are two pools one outside and one inside both pools were cool to swim in but still ok.

The gardens and grounds are outstanding. We had supper the first night in the Vintage pub which has a large fireplace and dark wood, it is very cozy and the food and not as pricey as the main dining room. The entire visit was outstanding and we all enjoyed our great stay here. It is a little pricey but well worth it, location is excellent. If you want to walk in the mornings you can cross the street and there is a nice walking trail.

My wife booked a package here for my 40th birthday as a get away for just the two of us (away from the kids for a weekend). We had a fantastic time. The facilities are excellent, the staff was very friendly and very helpful - Special Thank You to Frank who assisted us with breakfast both days we were there.

The best thing about Pillar and Post is the Spa facilities! We were there the first weekend of October so the weather was a little cooler with some rain. But we still decided to take a dip in the outside pool and it was great! Warm, clean and the towels were stocked! The indoors pool was nice, but not as warm, the sauna was too hot for us so we only stayed in there for a couple of minutes. The steam room was excellent, but I wish it was co-ed, would have been nice for us to hangout in the steam room together. The highlight of the spa was 'hot springs'...Its not really a natural hot springs, but rather a secluded outdoors hot tub with a nice waterfall feature. This was our favourite place in the hotel! Calming, relaxing, stress just seemed to melt away. And of course everyone was really nice. The only downside is that we wanted to get a massage but they are really busy there. The attendant told us that we really have to book a few weeks before we arrive, so heads up!

We ate dinner at the Cannery and it was excellent. Everything we ordered was excellent, obviously they care what they are putting out, and given the cost, I am sure some expect it -but that is not always the case. I had the prime rib (unbelievable!) and my wife had the curried scallops (delicious!). I don't think you can really go wrong here, everyone seemed very pleased with their meals.

Having been at a few pricey restaurants and hotels, I can honestly say they do it right here. Nothing is too much and the staff are terrific. This was a fabulous romantic get away and I highly recommend it.

This was my first visit, my mom has always wanted to visit Niagara-on-the-Lake so my 3 sisters and I took her. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay, from fast check in, very clean rooms, beautiful indoor & outdoor pools, excellent food. The entire atmosphere is relaxing from the minute you walk in the front doors. One of my sisters had a massage and said it was amazing. I can't wait to visit again bringing my family along. I enjoyed a morning work out in the gym, very clean and great equipment.
Keep up the good work you all all doing an amazing job.

Room Tip: We had two rooms near the spa and it was very handy to be so close to the pool and gym. We upgraded...

We spent the last few days of our 3 week holiday here and found it to be clean, comfortable with very helpful and pleasant staff and a great place to chill out.

The rooms face into the pool area via a glazed corridor so as we came here after Niagara the 'view' was a bit of a surprise. However the hotel is really great. The out door pool is the warmest I have ever known, and although it got quite busy over the weekend there were enough sun beds for all.

Food very good and reasonably priced, breakfast which was included in our package was also very good with a wide variety to choose from the buffet or you could order dishes from the menu. Coffee and fruit juices very good too.

Rooms pleasant and roomy, nice fluffy towels and robes provided, unfortunately paper cups for the coffee maker.

A very pleasant, flat, 15 minute walk into town which was lovely and meant we got some exercise, there was also a shuttle bus which is available on demand, we used this a few times and it was very efficient, so being a little way out is no problem.

We did have to ask for a room change after the first night as were originally next to a very loud transformer room, this was dealt with quickly and courteously however.

After we had checked out on our last day we had time to relax at the hotel before we needed to leave and were able to make use of the pool and spa. I was impressed by the facilities offered for changing etc after check out.

Would certainly go back there.

once again I was treated like royality. I took my friend to her first pedicure and massage and she loved the treatments. It was so nice to know that she would have an awesome experience knowing I was taking her to a place that I had been many times before and I knew service would be excellent. Yvonne and Nancy were so professional, funny, worked really hard to ensure my friends "ugly nurse feet" were incredibly manicured and "model like" when completed. She just loved the experience. I am amazed at the impeccable service and surroundings, its like going to McDonalds and ordering French fries where the quality is always the same. I will be back for more!!

We had a magical garden ceremony in the Rose Garden at the Pillar and Post this summer. The venue was beautiful with a rustic foyer greeting our guests and ushering them through into the fragrant and splendid rose garden, tucked in the courtyard. We were lucky to have Sandra Sir as our wedding coordinator at this location, and she worked with our decorator and ourselves to transform the already beautiful garden into a whimsical landscape for our wedding ceremony! Sandra was super helpful in making sure that every detail was attended to, whether it be making sure we got the AV equipment just right or keeping an errant branch out of our groomsman's hair, no request was too big or too small to be handled.

Our ceremony went off perfectly and we wouldn't have changed a thing! Sandra waited in the wings, directing vendors and queuing music without missing a beat!

We also have to mention the awesome work that Sandra and the Vintage Hotels team did for our rehearsal dinner, the night before. We held an awesome get together and rehearsal in the garden, followed by a fantastic dinner in the Olde Library (What a beautiful room!) The food was outstanding and we were treated to some of the best, and certainly the largest, prime rib we have ever had!

Thank you so much to Sandra and the Vintage Hotels team for making our ceremony a walk to remember! We cannot wait to come back down and stay with you again soon!

We have just returned from another trip to Niagra-on-the-Lake this Sept. This was our first stay at Pillar and Post. This Inn is beautiful and has "Old World" charm oozing from every corner! Our room was on the first floor and had a private terrace and fireplace. It was clean and comfortable with plenty of room. Down the hall was a very nice, large, enclosed terrace with pool and fountain, tables, chairs and lounges. Even though the temp. was a bit chilly in town, this protected pool/terrace area was sunny and very comfortable. There is also a very large indoor pool area and a spa with an outdoor, protected natural thermal pool that would be amazing even in the winter.
Their restaurant was fantastic, as was the service in it. They also have a shuttle, free, that will take you to the theater and pick you up after the play. All in all, very charming and delightful. I reminds me of Europe and we will definitely return.

Room Tip: I would avoid the rooms that are located in the hallway adjacent to the pool/terrace. They have win...
