“Noisy and Dirty for a High Priced Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

I expected perfection at this hotel but it had a few problems that disappointed.
Normally we shut the triple pane windows and shut of the under window air conditioner to get a quiet sleep. At this hotel on the third floor there was a constant back ground noise like a car idling on the roof. It was not much louder then forced air heating in a house but it was constant and it had a low frequency hum you could feel in the walls.

The rooms were immaculate clean right up to the inside window sills. It stopped there. The outside of the window was very dingy. It looked it was not cleaned in many months. The screen was covered with cob webs. Worst of all, the window sill although immaculate on the inside, the area under the window when open and the outside side sill was spotted badly will mold and mildew. Not very healthy.

Room Tip: Roof air conditioners / fan noisy on top floor

Hello Victor - I wanted to respond to your review here on TripAdvisor following your recent stay. We do have our exterior windows cleaned twice a year in the spring and fall. Our location on the Niagara River does mean that our windows experience higher than normal breezes and do look dusty from the inside. We are taking care of our window this season.

Please do come and visit us again,

On our way back from a southern Ontario wedding we stopped to see some plays at the Shaw Festival. Our short stay at the hotel was just right for our travel plans. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. We enjoyed our dinner in the Tiara restaurant. We also enjoyed being able to open the window and enjoy the view of the river. It was also great that they had a real corkscrew and wine glasses - since you are in wine country.
And the Chateau des Charmes wine and long-stemmed rose each night was delightful.
We would return.

We attended a family wedding and stayed at the hotel since the reception was at the hotel. This hotel is one of four properties in NOTL.Our room was on the first floor facing the front of the hotel. It was not noisy. The hotel staff were attentive and helpful at all hours. The rooms were clean and they have a turn down service and place a rose on the bed. The location of the hotel was walking distance to downtown and there is a shuttle to the other three hotels to use heir services. In fact, we used the shuttle to pop over (between wedding activities) to use the outdoor jacuzzi at the Pillar and Post. We did find the fridge on the day of our departure - we did not need it and spend little time in the room.

The bridal room was located on the lower level of the hotel and we ordered a selection of sandwiches. Perhaps we were hungry but the sandwiches were excellent. They made a special plate for one of the bridal party guests that had celiac disease. The reception was on the lower level (wedding at the Pillar and Post) as well.

Coffee and tea was available on the lower level by the elevators in the morning - since I get up early I appreciated this service - did not have to wake up people in the room. There is a keurig in the room as well.

The pool area was open but the jacuzzi tub was under renovation. Parking was easy and there was no problem finding a spot.

A friend and I recently spent two nights at Queen's Landing. The location was perfect for attending the Shaw Festival. All the staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was excellent. It was nice to have fruit from the region. On the down side, the pool area was under construction so it was rather noisy. No apology for the inconvenience (not a big deal). The rooms are quite tired for want of a better word. There is no fridge - very rare these days and inconvenient if one wants to picnic. There was only one luggage rack and one chair, no seating area; so, one had to lie on the bed. A rose arrived at the door each evening which was very nice but wasteful as there was nowhere to put it. It would have been better to have one rose in a vase on our arrival. This is clearly a conference/tour bus hotel. It was fine for two days but we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Dear valued guest - I wanted to respond to your posting here on TripAdvisor following your recent stay. We take all our guest feedback seriously and use it as a tool to improve our service. All of our rooms here at Queen's Landing have fridges - they are located in a wooden cabinet under the TV. We have a variety of room types here at the hotel, ranging from Traditional up to King Suites. Depending on the room category, there are sitting areas, soft seating and couches available for our guests. All of our guestrooms have recently been remodeled and we are currently in the process of completing a renovation project in our pool area.

We hope that you will come and join us again,

We had a lovely wedding at Queen's Landing. The setting was beautiful and really exuded the historic elegance we were looking for in a wedding venue. The food was incredible, as evidenced by a number of positive comments made by our guests, and all of the details were handled impeccably by Colleen.
As a detail-oriented bride, I had a thorough list of requests regarding the place setting set-up, serving of food, and the overall flow of the evening. All of these requests were fulfilled and the event turned out to be a fairytale experience!
We are looking forward to returning to Queen's Landing on our first anniversary!

This hotel is impressive at first sight and almost lives up to it. The rooms are nice enough. Common areas feel grand. Nice library. The upscale restaurant is good enough, but does not really have any culinary edge. Straightforward menu. The patio bar area is small but cute. Staff are fairly pleasant and helpful. The hotel runs a free on-demand shuttle service, which is handy if you want to enjoy the many wines produced in the region. Overall, good hotel. Just beware that the hotel is a popular wedding spot during the summer.

Queen's Landing is a very nice hotel and met all of the expectations of my planning. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Positives
-----------
- The front desk was very helpful in quickly booking dinner reservations off-site and they were genuinely interested in hearing about our stay at checkout.
- The hotel was very clean and well maintained by the staff. Housekeeping even cleaned our personal pillow sheets that we brought from home.
- Great location, walking distance to downtown, but far enough away to avoid the crowds.

Negatives
------------
- We had a small window above our bed that faced east. Every morning at 6am the room got so bright that we had to cover the window with a blanket every night.
- We were charged a $1 for each toll free call.

Odds and Ends
-------------------
I do find some of the negative comments here a bit ridiculous, such as:

- "They didn't explain when we checked in that our room included breakfast and that we could also go to their sister hotels for breakfast as well." Really, this an issue? If you asked if you could have breakfast at the other hotels, the front desk would happily tell you "yes".

- "At no point did the staff at the reception offer to inform us of tourist activities even though there is a speed boat ride down to the white water rapids just 50 yards from the hotel, or anywhere to visit.". This is not thier job to "inform" you of everything at NOTL without prompt. If you asked if there were any actvities nearby, they would gladly tell you about the jetboat tours. Why didn't you complain about them not telling you about all 30+ wineries?

- I've also read several negative comments on the resort fees and taxes. Thier website details all the taxes and fees. The fees are high, but the fees are not "hidden" by any means.

- At check-in we were told that there would be a $150 per day hold on our CC for use in the restaurant. At first I was not happy about this, but it did end up being a positive. Being able to expense to your room saved time in running your CC and allowed for more time to enjoy NOTL.
