“Anniversary Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2011

Room 105 - corner room

We had reserved a room here and then cancelled the reservations because of all the negative reviews here on TripAdvisor. When the owner of the wine tour that we had scheduled found out, he suggested we reconsider. We did and really aren't disappointed that we did.

We loved the history of the hotel and the floor plan of our room. The ambiance of the hotel is definitely unique and enjoyable. I will agree with the others that our bed did seem quite hard but it did not keep me from having a decent nights sleep. We did not use the restaurant or spa. We truly enjoyed the breakfast in bed!

I booked a package deal as a gift for my bf including 2 nights and 1 dinner at AG. The standard room was beautiful and the jacuzzi was great, but the bed ruined the whole experience. They were extremely hard, I think it was a futon. Neither of us could sleep at all the first night we were there. The continental breakfast brought to the room in the morning was great, and the AG restaurant had very nice ambiance but the food was just average. I would definitely return if it wasn't for the beds.

Stayed here in Feb with my wife whilst on a business trip. We got a great rate of $120 for the BIG, and I mean BIG and luxurious deluxe spa room with breakfast thrown in. We enjoyed our brief stay but small details sort of let down the overall package and leave you without that feelgood factor that a hotel such as this should generate. For example the bed was huge but unnecessarily hard. So stay and enjoy as we did but be prepared for unexpected small let downs when you least expect it that detract from the overall experience.

Room Tip: Watch for short notice specials on deluxe rooms

My wife and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary and had the combo package room/massage/dinner. The room was very nice, staff were very friendly and the food tasted good - until 1 hour after dinner and had the worst food poisoning of my life. 1 night at AG restuarant = 5 days in the bathroom. Alerted the staff about the food at AG and left messages with the managers. We had to phone back to get any feedback and they said they would look in to it. I feel like I would have been compensated better at McDonalds. Probrably a fluke as this place was nice but talking to friends in the hospitality business and normally some sort of compensation would be given. Could not pay me to go back because of that and I feel like they had the attitude of " Sorry about your luck Sir, happy anniversary and thanks for the $400.00"

Just what we were looking for - quiet, relaxing, clean - all with an extremely helpful pleasant staff. The room was more than spacious - very comfortable. The location is 5 min from Clifton Hill and about 15 min walking distance to the Casino.
Best part - for couples looking to get away and the breakfast delivered to our door each morning.
Worst part - which has nothing to do with the Inn at all - unfortunately another customer felt it necessary to smoke in this smoke free facility and it just went through the whole place, yuck.
Yes, we will definitely go back.

We stayed at the Sterling Inn for 3 nights on the first leg of of winter honeymoon and it was perfect with the falls only a short walk away. The hotel provided the perfect resting spot after an exhausting but wonderful wedding weekend. Our suite included a king size bed with a perfect view of the flat screen and fireplace, a jacuzzi tub and a rain shower with massaging jets and a spacious living room with a leather couch, tv and mood lighting. The room was clean, with a modern but cozy flair. Inside the room it was very quite - even hard to hold a conversation between the bathroom and bedroom. The chambermaid was very kind to adjust her cleaning around out afternoon naps -easy to do after a fantastic complimentary breakfast in bed (great tea and croissants). We ordered great AG restaurant room service - I recommend the local sauvigon blanc. The golden keys conseirge, Andre, took such great care of us that we felt like celebraties. We didn't leave the hotel much but when we did, he always sent us in the right direction.

I decided to surprise my husband with an early Valentines Day getaway at the Stirling as we heard much about it from friends and from the local advertising. They had a great pkg. deal on where you got to stay in a traditional king suite and had dinner included at their fabulous restaurant, AG Inspired Cuisine. Although the area where the hotel is located isn't the prettiest, it was within walking distance to Clifton Hill and the Falls. The room was ultra modern, and large, with a steam shower unit in ours ( others had a jacuzzi tub). The bed was super comfortable and lots of cable channels to choose from. The decor in the restaurant had a swanky feel to it and the meal itself ( in-season, locally produced ingredients) was incredible and superbly presented. The wait staff were excellent as well.
Being local to the area, we know what the hotels and restaurants can be like in the Falls- sometimes tacky and cheesy. However this hotel truly lives up to its "Boutique Hotel" designation and it was really fun to play "tourist" in our own backyard at a decent place! Another great thing about it was the fact that the next morning a yummy continental breakfast was served- in bed! All you do is just write on the card the night before when you want breakfast the next morning and leave it on your door before 8pm. The breakfast goodies of pastries, quiche, yogurt, cheese, meat, fruit and juice/coffee were delivered on time, delicious, and hit the spot!

If you're coming to the Falls, want to stay at a really nice place, and don't mind splurging a bit, then this place is for you! Check out their package rates as well - they often have really great specials!
