“A wonderful time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

We brought the kids here on a Friday night stay. The price included waterpark passes for Friday and Saturday. We stayed in a theme room for $20 extra. Pros: clean rooms, awesome indoor waterpark, friendly staff, lots of lifeguards, fun arcade. Cons: I really can't think of any except the price to stay the night, but...they don't really gouge you for food and drink. Don't get me wrong, its pricey. But they could really gouge and don't. Large pizza is just over $20. Breakfast buffet (excellent I might add) was $15.99/adult. Kids were $9.99. I really recommend this place for young and old kids. I had just as much fun as my 4 and 6 year old!!

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. The lobby was full of guests waiting for check-in. We were in line for about 20-30 mins and glad to know that our rooms were ready. Dropped off the bags, had a quick change and went into the water park. It was not cold but not as warm as a few years back. The water park was very crowded and had long lines for the slides and rides.

To avoid buying overprice food from the Lodge, we went out and bought take out from Swiss Chalet. I started to suffer from abdomen pain and felt nausea after an hour or two. I vomited a few times and had a light diarrhea. I rarely had problem with food from restaurants. Nobody from my family was sick from the same food. I must picked up a bug from the water or the environment in the Lodge. If you must go to this place, avoid submerging and wash your hand frequently.

As mentioned by other guests, the air-conditioner/heater was terribly noisy. It woke you up when it started up every 20/30 mins and therefore sleep quality is 1 out of 5 stars.

Let me start off by saying that the employees here do an amazing job at making you feel special from the moment you arrive. The resort is large and well maintained, there was never a time where we thought they lacked in trying to keep the property clean and fresh. The rooms are spacious and have a warm outdoors feeling to them.

The water park is one of the best I have ever seen. The slides, and wave pool are top notch.

The food at the buffet was very good. No complaints on the food or service while in the restaurants.

Overall it's a must do! Take your family and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Look for deals on wag jag. You can save a lot this way.

This was our first stay here and overall this delivered on all expectations. The water park is great with lots to do with your kids. Notice I said WITH your kids. If you are a parent who doesn't want to spend time with your kid (sad) there isn't much for you here. Everything is kid centric so if you love to have a blast WITH your kids, you will discover your inner child and create some great memories!
Tips:
1) bring a large bag for your clothes while you wait for your room to be ready the first day you arrive. Locker rentals are expensive ($15) so save a bit of cash.
2) the rooms have microwaves but popcorn is not allowed so bring alternative snacks.
3) bring your own lunch and breakfast to save a bundle. We even brought our own toaster for bagel sandwiches at lunch.
4) request a room on the top floor the farthest away from the lobby. Inevitably, there are families who put their kids to bed at 10pm and allow them to scream in the hallways. We were on the bottom floor and the people above us were loud!
5) bring a white noise maker for the kids. This blocks out a lot of noise in the hallways and allowed our daughter to nap well.
6) don't put your kids in the kids program! Spend time with them! Sad that they even offer this program!
7) Story time at 8pm sounded like a good idea but it was a bit of a bust. The animals sing and it was ok. The story just wound the kids up before going to bed. Do it once, because you know you want to, but it is pretty weak.

We stayed two nights with our five year old daughter and friends of ours for with a 3 year old the children loved the cabin room with the bunk beds! The children also couldn't get enough of the water park, the interactive game was a bit above our five year olds level but she had fun with the wand anyways and the magic she could do. Buffet was ok but only for a day. Downtown niagra was only five minutes down a very direct victoria st. Maybe come summer this isn't so easy? Also got to catch festival of lights this time of year! We had a good time

We have been to this resort about 7 times, it's always been good. Comfortable rooms, good service, great waterpark...it's great if you ike to spend an arm and a leg for anything extra you want to do. We usually go down the road to Tim Hortons for breakfast and order dinner from outside the resort. We had given our 4 kids gift cards at Christmas to use during our stay at New Years....but the cards are not accepted at the Northern Light Arcade, or at Scoops spa, or at Cub Club. This was a pain, having to go to the front desk to cash them in and credit our room account. This was the first time we found the water was cooler than usual and it also felt like the chlorine was stronger...kinda like why we won't return to the Fallsview Waterpark.

Room Tip: Majestic Bear Suite is our favorite room when travelling with 6-8 people.

We received gift certificates for Christmas and used them over the Christmas Break. We knew it was going to be more expensive than usual but I think GWL has overpriced their facility. We always bring our own food to cut down on the cost of things of well. Another thing we found was that the waterpark was very cold and the water temperature was as well. My whole family had to use the hot tub numerous times just to warm up. This was not our first time at this GWL but it will definitely be the last!
