“Relaxing vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

My best friend and I stayed early SEPT. I had stayed at this same hotel on Canada Day 2012, so I was familiar with the hotel and location. The room was a typical 2 queen beds, with a balcony overlooking the parking lot. Staff were able to accommodate our request for a microwave, which was great news, and the fridge was more than adequate for our food. The location was very convenient, maybe 10 minutes walk to Clifton hill main attractions. We had some meals back at the hotel, but spent much of our time visiting the falls and attractions. The staff was helpful to answer our questions, whatever they may be. We had a great time the days we stayed and are planning a return in 2014. The only thing I would change was maybe update the mattresses. Thanks to all staff on duty for contributing to our delightful trip to the Falls. :)

This was our second stay at Chalet and we were very satisfied with our experience. This is a motel and it provides a motel experience. A very good motel experience. Our experience was consistent with our first stay. We rented the same two rooms, 204 and 205, smoking and non-smoking as we travel with my friend’s elderly mother. The motel has a nice view of the Niagara skyline and we often enjoy sitting out on the balcony both day and night. We called to make our reservations directly and spoke with the Manager, Lorenzo D’Amico. Mr. D’Amico provided us with a very good price on the two rooms for our four day stay which included taxes, parking and Wi-Fi internet. I told Mr. D’Amico on the phone that we felt that the indoor pool was too cold to enjoy on our first visit. Though the outdoor pool was closed for the season, he assured me that it would be warmer during this time of the year. It was balmy in the indoor pool area and the water temperature was very comfortable and the water and facilities were clean.

We also enjoy the outdoor pool area when it’s open as it affords some privacy behind the motel and it feels like you are enjoying a pool at home. We hit heavy rain coming into town and the temperatures were chilly. We experienced a substantial shift in weather while we were there with temperatures going from the low 70’s F to the high 80’s F (20’s C to 30’s C), almost exactly in the middle of our stay as a high front moved in. Both the heating and the air conditioning worked well in both rooms. The rooms were clean and deodorized upon arrival and the showers had plenty of hot water and water pressure. Maid service was efficient and courteous and left fresh sealed cups, clean towels and new toilet paper each day. The lights and refrigerator were in good running condition and the refrigerator is large enough to accommodate 4, 2-litres of pop, lunch meat and condiments and comes with a freezer. Staying at a motel we like to bring a single cup coffee maker and to buy some groceries and have pizza delivered.

New flat panel TV’s greeted us and offered a variety of channels with both Canadian and U.S. programming. In addition if you are a Netflix customer, Netflix Canada will be available on your computer. The Wi-Fi service is good and dependable. It did go down on me once but Chalet has a front and rear router. I logged back in to the rear router using the same password provided by the front desk and didn’t have a problem for the rest of the stay.

The building is aesthetically pleasing and well maintained. Mr. D’Amico keeps regular hours and can often be seen tending to the grounds and gardening. This is good because it provides a sense of safety and security. We feel very safe here. It is also generally nice and quiet as it is tucked away one block back from the main strip and if there is a large group, shutting the door will mute the sound. We slept soundly. We have found the other guests to be well mannered and friendly during our stays..

There is easy access to the Seneca Niagara Casino and a convenience store is located half a block away on Victoria Avenue. Ellen Avenue is a good place to stay because it is a shorter street than Victoria Avenue, which is part of the main strip, so it offers an easy walk from one end of the entertainment district to the other. The Greg Frewin Dinner Theatre offers a buffet dinner and magic show and is about a block up Ellen Avenue on the right. It’s a nice time for adults and children. Be sure to check the motel lobby for free discount booklets that can provide a substantial savings. Ellen Avenue also ends at Ferry Street which becomes Lundy’s Lane and is lined with chain restaurants, supermarkets, strip malls, mom and pop shops and street vendors. If you make a left and go up another block on Clark Avenue you will find yourself at the Imax Theatre and Fallsview Casino.

As stated in previous reviews Chalet is very near Clifton Hill which is the main entertainment and shopping district. One trick that we’ve learned which is especially helpful when traveling with the elderly, is to walk down Clifton Hill and make use of the escalators in the Casino Niagara to get back up the hill as the rear entrance lets out 1 block from this motel. If you find yourself at the Fallsview Casino, the incline ($2.50 per person with discounted all-day pass available), will ride you up Murray Street hill and let you off at the rear entrance of Fallsview Casino which houses the food court. We enjoy playing the Wizard of Oz slot machines and between the two casinos I found myself about 100.00 wealthier, which was nice. Taxis are also abundant at the front entrance and if you’d prefer not to walk back, the fare runs about 5.00 to 7.00 back to the motel.

Very nice overall. We were pleased with the accommodations, the location, the amenities, the value and the staff.

Room Tip: Walk down Clifton Hill and make use of the escalators in the Casino Niagara to get back up the hill...

Had to change dates for reservation, owner/manager was very accommodating. Our stay was extremely pleasant, the location was perfect. The accommodations were roomy and very clean. I would definitely recommend this Inn to family and friends.

We stayed with a group of 8 people 2 weeks ago. Chose this hotel because we wanted to have one joint room for all of us and this hotel was able to accommodate which was awesome. We had a huge double room with 4 queen beds and 2 bathrooms so everyone was comfortable. The hotel has and indoor and an outdoor swimming pool and we used the outdoor one for the whole day and it was great. Also very convenient location about 10 minutes walk to Clifton hill main attractions. Now the bad stuff: When we arrived and checked in we paid our total in full. After couple of hours having drinks on a balcony we were smoking electronic cigarettes this older staff member started yelling at us that we are smoking so we had to go downstairs to show him that its electronic cigarette which he still didn’t believe that it’s all we smoked even though other staff members saw us coming downstairs to have a smoke. The nest day the very same grumpy older staff member came to the pool and advised us that we didn’t leave a deposit when checked in ( no one told us to leave anything) we said to him that ones we are done swimming we’ll go up to get the credit card and will come down to leave the deposit. We came up he started calling us every 5 minutes (seriously every 5 minutes) to remind us that we have to come down. We went to pay for the deposit. The next day at checking out he said to us that we were too loud and he will not return our deposit (the deposit is for damages, we left the room as clean as we could and nothing was damaged because we were just changing and sleeping there, the rest of the time we were out) We told him that he can’t keep the deposit as it is against the rules and we were not notified that the deposit is for the noise issued as well. Finally he decided to go check the room. He came back and had no choice but to return the deposit and let us go. We would really love to go back there as it is very accommodating for a big group of people but we didn’t like to be treated like a bunch of teenagers. He was rude to us from a very first moment he saw us.

A friend and I stayed here over the labour day weekend with our 2 sons (5 & 10). The hotel is clean, the pools were great (and empty most of the time)! The rooms were large and were also clean. When we arrived the air was not on but within a few minutes the room was cool and any stagnant air was gone. We had a mini fridge and the TV was new. The TV however was very fuzzy, I would suggest an HDMI cable or something to get the proper resolution as for the money spent on the TV it’s a waste! The location was convenient, we parked the car and didn’t drive all weekend. The breakfast was just fine, it was grocery store muffins and Danishes which the children were perfectly happy to be treated with!

The only negative I would suggest is for the owner to speak privately to his staff. On two occasions we witnessed him berate the cleaning staff for no good reason. I highly disagree with publicly reprimanding your employees (especially unwarranted as these ladies were working hard) and feel he was very unprofessional in his approach.

Bottom line, if you want to stay in a 5 star than pay for one. If you want to stay somewhere cheap, clean and convenient than this is your spot!

Stayed at this motel, 2 nights, for a tournament and it was ok. They didn't have great breakfast options, since they don't have the facilities to do so, so walk for a bit and grab some Tim's. Beds were ok, but I found tons of fruit loops in my bed (?) Good that this place has a pool so you could cool off. The location is absolutely boss, a 2 minute walk to clifton hill. As we first entered the room there were some bugs and kind of a murky stench. So overall, this place is good for a 1 nighter or a weekend, but nothing longer.

My family and I had my cousin's birthday at this hotel. The family room in which we stayed was big and nicely laid out. We enjoyed swimming in the indoor and outdoor pool. The service staff was friendly, caring and kind. This hotel was minutes away from all attractions.
