My husband and I decided on a getaway weekend this New Year's eve and I found The Park Plaza's ad in The Toronto Sun. I called and the woman I spoke with was very helpful, not only in helping me with my reservation choices but also with what was going on in Niagara Falls at that time, shopping, dining etc. I felt she answered my many, many questions courteously, knowledgably and with a great sense of humour. When I mentioned that I had seen reviews on TripAdvisor concerning bedbugs in the hotel, she assured me the problem had been rectified and advised that the hotel had been under new management since approximately October and their first priority had been to "clean up" the property. She explained everything that was included in the available packages (a 4 course meal on New Year's Eve in their new restaurant
Manhattan's Restaurant and Bar, 2 tickets to Yuk Yuks, a champagne toast at midnight, a breakfast buffet both mornings and the 2 nights in the room) and I decided on the Jacuzzi Suite Package, because she sounded so nice and so customer friendly.
I was right to book the package!
The suite was large, clean and very comfortable. The two person jacuzzi was great and my hubby and I had a wonderful time. We took advantage of the free shuttle to Casino FallsView and the parking at the Park Plaza itself was free. Also, the package price was tax included which was a real bonus.
The front desk staff were all very friendly, knowledgable and eager to help make our stay a great one. we arrived about 2 hours ahead of the stated check in time and got checked in right away and up to our room.
From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and during our 2 days there we didn't see one staff member who wasn't smiling - from the maids to the front desk people to the shuttle driver to management.
I would go back to the Park Plaza again and would recommend it to anyone going to Niagara Falls.

Went for weekend as a part of a group. the building was ugly on the outside but seemed pretty inside and was decorated with a Santa and a Christmas tree. There was a warm fireplace. The staff on the other hand was very cold! I had a backed up toilet when arrived at hotel. They tried to fix it while our group was at their restaurant for dinner. We had a reservation. Waited a long time for a table. Waited 2 hours for cold, expensive dinner. The employees at the restaurant were nice but very overwhelmed. My toilet overflowed when used after dinner and I was told no rooms available. It overflowed every time they said it was fixed. Not very fun with 3 kids in the room!!! Next day I went to the front desk to discuss this with a manager. The front desk employee was the rudest person I have ever met. She rolled her eyes at me and laughed as I walked away. The manager did call me a few minutes later. No apologies. Instead she stuck up for that lady and offered me another room at 11:00 at night. Suddenly, there was a room available. Even thought she was rude and tried to insult my intelligence with insincere kindness, I agreed to move. Stupidly whe forgot to hang up the phone before asking the man to 'help that royal ****move!(bad word)
He came down soon after to help me. I thanked him but explained that I would be staying and leaving first thing in the morning and would never return. Then I asked him to suggest that she hang up the phone before she calls a guest a bad name!! Trust me, he understood and sympathized with me.
Rude, nasty, unprofessional.
Phone problems.
Toilet never fixed.
No movies.
Pool and hot tub closed all weekend.
Never returning!!!
My family has always enjoyed staying at the Michael's Inn!!!!!

I spent 2 nights in September 2004, got a good deal from some website.

The hotel is average, they don't have a hotel restaurant/bar, this is substituted by a Diner. (it's not open 24hrs - if you get the munchies at the middle of the night...then good luck in finding a snack, especially if you don't have a car).

..They only have one mini van, (can seat up to 7 people) that takes you to the casino & back (but no where else)!

The first time I tried catching the shuttle it arrived 30mins late, I couldn't get on because a party of 7 suddenly appeared from know where & got on, had to wait another 45 mins, then the Manager came out, he tried calling the driver but couldn't get through.

In the end he offered me a ride in his personal car.
I asked him when does the shuttle come for a pick up to the casino, he wasn't sure and gave me his mobile phone number to call him.

I won’t be staying here again!

Do I have a story for you that will utterly disgust you, yet make you think twice before renting any hotel anywhere you travel to.

My husband and I along with my sister in law and brother in law booked a hotel room at the Park Plaza Hotel Niagara Falls Canada for the night of November 6th, to the 7th 2004. After booking the rooms from Hotels I decided to go onto the Reviews web site and see how the hotel rated according to previous guests.

After reading horrid reviews I had to call the hotel directly myself because I wanted to verify if those reviews were in fact true or false. I spoke to a lady named Joy at the hotel front desk and to my surprise she confirmed that YES they did have a problem with Bed Bugs sometime in the summer of floors 2 and 8 and she reassured me over and over that this problem was fixed, they had ABLE in and that the problem was completely resolved and I will have no problem with my stay.
After speaking with Joy, and with her her reassurance and confirmation that this problem was in the past and everything is fixed, meaning no moreBED BUGS my sister in law and I decided to still go ahead with our booking at the Park Plaza Hotel.
Here is our expereince;
We checked into the hotel at approximately 4:00pm the day of Saturday November 6th, 2004. We were checked in by JOY. When my sister in law Silvana checked into her room Joy commented on how we were the ones who called in previously regarding the bed bugs and they sort of just chuckled about it. When entering our rooms they were nice, carpets were disgusting but the rooms were clean, and jacuzzi tubs were nice. I checked the bed even though I was told that there were no bed bugs and sprayed them down with Lysol Disinfectant. There were no bed bugs at that point of time so therefore we then left for the night to the Fallsview Casino for some dinner and drinks.

On our return to the hotel at approximately 12:30am, we decided to call it a night and went to bed. We then were woken up by a fire alarm that went off at 4:00am in the morning. THANK GOD for this alarm because it made me realize that I was sleeping in BED BUGS.

As I had woken up, I got up from the bed and saw disgustingly BED BUGS all over the sheets. I was horrified and so disappointed that I called down to the front desk and spoke to Wilna and told her my problem. All she could say was Oh Dear, how can that be. Do you want another room? I said, are you kidding me, who's to say that there are no bed bugs in those rooms either. She stated that she could not do any more for me until the manager comes in at 7:00am. I told her that I want my money refunded because this is filth. I called my sister in law who was a floor above me in room 410 and told her to get out of her bed. She also looked in her bed and saw bed bugs. Utter disgust!!! So now the bed bugs are on floors 3 & 4. Who knows what other floors they could be on.
Both myself and my husband stayed up all night and sat on our couches covered in clothes from head to toe, not being able to sleep a wink until sunrise when we were able to get the hell out of that hotel. We called down at 7:00am and spoke to Joy and she then sent up the Front Desk Manager, Kevin Liddle, to look for himself at the bed. He ended up coming to my sister in laws room, 410 and it was confirmed. He looked at the bed sheets and took the head board off and there were at least 20-30 bed bugs that were already dead and some were alive. So who knows how long those bed bugs were there and not cleaned.
Kevin Little and Joy, the representatives of the hotel dealt with this issue lightly and it didn't seem that they were surprised at all that this was Again reoccuring. Could you imagine all the other guests that have stayed there and encountered bed bugs sucking at their blood and having no clue that this was happening.
My reason for this review is to get this issue heard and getting this hotel shut down.
I have called the health board this morning and am waiting for the inspector to call me to discuss this issue.
I even have photos and video as proof.
Please whoever has reservations or have thought to stay at Park Plaza please take this review to heart, I am not lying at all, it is so not worth your money or health especially if you have children staying with you.

No problems here!
Everything worked fine, everything was clean!

Some people just like to complain, if things aren't absolutely perfect and cater to their every want!

The hotel is not perfect, but for $89 per night it was a very good room.

The only 2 negatives I seen in my room were the ceiling was chipping in a few spots and could use a touch up, and the lighting could have been a little brighter. Now if that's the only problem, that's not bad at all.

As far as being in a run down part of the city, it's not true. Niagara Falls in Canada doesn't have a ghetto, the area is fine!
